Hello, Brown Family searchers. According to family information, Rebecca BROWN was b. ca. 1716, place not known, and became the wife of a man whose surname was BROWN. Apparently, husband ?? BROWN died, and then, Rebecca became the wife of John GIVENS, a young immigrant from Ireland, who came here with his family, and settled in Rowan Co., NC. I have assumed that the BROWN family lived in the area of Rowan Co., NC, but that may be subject to better facts! This marriage was a successful one, since there were nine children who became adults of it. My ancestor in the family was James GIVENS, who was the sixth son, and who married Patsy MILLER later. The purpose of this message is to place a question before you all. Who were the parents of Rebecca BROWN? She is also called Rachel in some of the family histories, but in none of them are her parents named! At some point later in their marriage, John and Rebecca moved to near-by Mecklenburg Co., where the last five of their nine children were born.
