Besides the BROWNs I listed earlier in the Roll Call, there are a few "miscellaneous" or seemingly unconnected BROWNs in our families: 1) A Mr. BROWN married ELIZABETH ROARK, daughter of William ROARK, Sr., and ??Muhuldah??. William ROARK was born in 1760 in Ireland and died in 1843 in Cottage Grove, Saline Co., IL. ELIZABETH ROARK had several siblings: John; William Aaron (married w/1 child); Michael (b. 1796; m. Nancy EVANS in 1818 in Muehlenberg, KY (one of my BRICK WALLS!!!); 2 daughters=Ellen and Hannah); and Martin. 2) EVERETT BROWN married IDA GERALDINE BOWMAN. Both presumed to be still living. Other interconnecting surnames through IDA are: FOREMAN, BURLEIGH, BARTON, McHENRY, ADAIR, GILLAND .... (NOTE: RUTH GILLAND 1821-1883, m. John FOREMAN, is another "brick wall" for me.) 3) JULIA V. BROWN married BROUGHTON C. SLATEN in 1900. Broughton was born in 1879 to MINERVA DAVIS (b. 1853; m. 1876 near Harrisburg, Saline Co., IL) and JAMES C. SLATEN, Jr. (b.1842/IL; d. 1909) and had the following siblings: Minnie, Idaho, Logan, and John III. Other related names are: BODINE, FREELAND, ROARK, & EVANS(this is Nancy again...See#1). 4) MAMIE BROWN married ALBERT CLAY NEWELL (1884-1932). Albert's parents were CYRUS MARION NEWELL (1858/Eubanks, KY-1907) and Salena Frances BUCHANAN (1859/Science Hill, Pulaski Co., KY - 1927). They were married in 1878 at the home of Rachel BUCHANAN w/Geo. McDONALD as witness. Albert's siblings were EDUARD LEATEN (this is how it was spelled); MARTHA JANE; SARAH MARGARET; EVERETT DeWITT; & HARDIN HARRISON NEWELL. Related names: MEECE and JAMESON. This family eventually married into the FOREMAN, EVANS, ROARK, and SLATEN lines via the BUCHANANs. 5) WASHINGTON MARION BROWN married in 1866 MARGARET ANN RAYBORN (b. 1847). Margaret Ann was the daughter of THOMAS J. RAYBORN (1804-1873) and MALVINA HUDSON (1813-1879). Thomas & Malvina were married in 1826 and had the following children in addition to Margaret Ann: Mary Elizabeth; Travis; Amanda M.; Henrietta; George Thomas; Galen E.; Andrew J.; Nancy; Robert Franklin; Lucy Ann; Sophia; Alexander . Related names are: ALDRIDGE, COLE, PRINCE, LAY, SEARS, ANDERSON, & ??DENHAM. This line is eligible for DAR via the ALDRIDGEs. It also interconnects to the BUCHANAN lines above.
