Here's what I know about my Brown Family. James R. Brown was born Jan 28, 1835 in Marion Co., Oh., probably in or near Cardington, Oh. which later became a part of Morrow Co., Oh. He died Oct 1, 1923 in Logan Co. Ok. He is buried at Banner Cemetary, Banner Twp., Kingfisher Co. Ok. He married Lydia A. Miner (or Minor). She died April 16, 1919 and buried next to James R. Brown. They lived in Ohio until the latter part of 1868 or the first part of 1869 when they moved to DeSoto,Dallas,Oh. The 1870 census of Van Meter Twp, Dalles Co, Ia list James R, Lydia, Ella, Frank, Nelly, and Maggie Brown. It listed him as a grocer. Sometime before 1879 they moved to Medicine Lodge,Barber,Ks. In 1889 they went to Oklahoma to participate in the run of 1889. Nellie Brown made the run and proved up a homestead west of Kingfisher, Ok. James R. bought out someone elses homestead and moved to Excelsior Twp,Kingfisher,Ok. They did go to California for a couple of years and then moved back to Ok. Children are listed below Ella Brown, no birth date, no death date. Married to a man last name Young. Frank Brown, birth 1866, died between 1923 and 1949 in Arvin, Ca. Nellie Brown, born Dec 6, 1867, in Cardington, OH. died 12/13 Mar 1952. near Garnett,Anderson,Ks. Married Luther Jones Jan 26 1892 at Kingfisher,Kingfisher,Ok. Laura Brown (my grandmother), born Nov 28 1873 at DeSoto,Dalles,IA. Died at Enid,Garfield,Ok on Jul 1, 1956. Married Edward A. Barnum on Feb 17, 1896 in Excelsior Twp,Kingfisher,Ok. Emma Linda Brown, born March 14, 1879 at Medicine Lodge,Barber,Ks, Died Aug 30, 1918 at Santa Cruz, Ca. Married Leonidas McGirk May 9, 1901. Bertha Brown, not birth date born in Medicine Lodge,Barber,Ks. Died, no death date, in Crescent, Logan,Ok. I don't know if James R. had any brothers or sisters.
