In some material I found in the Haverhill Library it says, "Captain John Brown supposes that he is of the English Browns, his ancestors coming to Newbury when was first settled, his father was Joseph who married 1st Mary Brown of Kensington, NH and lived most of his life a seaman." Captain John Brown was born 7 Mar 1782, Salisbury, Essex, MA. He had a sister: Mary and 4 brothers: Joseph, Benjamin, Stephen and Oliver. His mother and father were married 25 Jan 1779, Newburyport, Essex, MA Does anyone know who the "English Browns" of Newbury were? Shari Worrell
