Marge Brown, You listed Eslie Alexander Brown born in IL and moved to MO. I agree with you it is not a common name and shouldn't be that hard to find---------------NOT! None were listed for IL or MO for any year. But I did find one and he was in the Civil War. E Co 7th Cav Reg PA Private in Union enlisted 29 Oct 1861, died Murfreesboro, TN 15 Mar 1862. I found this at Ancestry.com. It is such an unusual name that there could be a connection for yours. Have you tried searching with just initials or with just Alexander as name. If I see anything at all, I'll let you know. This is probably not important but one of my James' grandsons was named Leslie Brown. In fact Leslie's niece just died this week in CA. Her name was Evelyn Groh 94 years old. We just found her this last year. Her health wasn't good so we didn't get to meet her. Not much help, Sorry, Carol Brown Hoskins Buffalo, WY hoskins@trib.com
