Hi All, I am looking for information on John BROWN in Illinois son of Thomas BROWN in England. Both were born in England. John is my Great Grandfather. I have no idea of any siblings of either of these but suspect they had siblings. Thomas Brown of Hollacombe, Devon, England area. son John Shadrach who is my g grandfather married Jane MANSFIELD in Grundy County, IL, August 11, 1858. Christened April 21, 1833 to Job MANSFIELD and Mary Ann at Billesdon, Leicester, England The following are the children of John & Jane: Thomas b. August 28, 1861 Ford Co. Illinois Mary Elvira b. December 9, 1862 Ford Co. Illinois Fannie May b. January 28, 1867 Grundy Co. Illinois Elizabeth Bell b. March 16, 1869 Grundy C. Illinois Charles b. September 20, 1873 Ford C. Illinois The family moved to Smith County Kansas in approximately 1874 and latr to Nebraska. I also suspicion that John was married when he moved to US but not sure of that. The IGI lists John Shadrach BROWN as being born to a Thomas BROWN and Christened November 16, 1815 at Hollacombe, Devon, England. He appears in the 1841 census in England. He appears in the 1850 census in IL. Jane is listed in the 1850 census of Grundy County, IL. with parents Job and Mary MANSFIELD. immigrated from Billesdon, Leicester, England I do have a little more information forward on this family but nothing back and so am searching the unknowns also.
