Melanie, Ezekiel BROWN, son of Ezekiel & Rachel (HARMON) BROWN, was born 30 Dec 1807 in Wilkes County, NC. At about age 15 he moved with his parents to Haywood county, NC where he married 19 Feb 1829 Margaret PLOTT (6 May 1809-11 Nov 1895) They moved to Cherokkee County, NC where they were enumerated in the 1840 & 1850 census. Ezekiel BROWN was a large land owner and farmer. Purchasing property in the Hiawassee River Valley in 1857, Ezekiel BROWN moved his family to Towns County, GA where he and Margaret lived the reminder of their lives. (a portion of his Hiawassee River property was purchased by the Wyly heirs.) Ezekile BROWN died 6 Dec 1886. He & margaret are buried in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
