I reviewed some material I had in my files and discovered that there is a very good chance that David S. Brown and Mary E. Pate Brown were the parents of my grandfather, John Starling Brown. From the 1860 U.S. Census for Texas, Van Zandt County, David & Mary have an 11 month old son named Starling and Thomas P. & Lucinan(da) Brown have an 11 month old son named John S. Brown. Since I have nothing to determine which one is the correct chain, I only have the remark made by my father's sister who said that Martha Brown McKnight was John Starling's aunt. John Starling Brown was born 29 July 1859. If that is correct, David & Mary would be the correct parents and they are from the William R. Brown line (Thomas P is his nephew). The only information I have regarding DAvid & Mary Brown was in a book from Henderson County (submitted by Billie Brown) which dated their marriage date as June 1859. Is there anybody out there who can confirm whether John Starling Brown was born to David & Mary or to Thomas P and Lucinda Brown?
