Is there anyone out there in the BROWN NEVER NEVER LAND that might have a connection to this JAMES S. BROWN family? Washington, Daviess Co., IN Genealogy Library this was found; Brown, James S. July 1823 Heirs; Margaret Brown (Minor) James Brown "" Alexander Brown "" Then I found this at the Daviess Co Court House; Index: James S. Brown Guardianship to Lewis Jones date of letters July 8th 1823. Box 1 Bond (no record or papers) Census info for Daviess Co. "1820 Federal Census was lost, never made it to be filed". I found out that Louis/Lewis Jones 2nd wife was ANNY BROWN at the time of James S. Browns death. (could she have been James S. Brown's sister?) According to this Jones family group sheet, Lewis died in TX in 1865. Marriage records show that Margaret Brown m. George Hawkins 20 Mar 1828. I found the probate of George Hawkins for 1830. Then I found 2 marriages for Margaret Hawkins. One to Peter Tate 25 April 1833. Then a second one to Elias Chancellor 8 Nov 1838. Using Peter Tate as Margaret Brown's second husband, this is what I found in the 1850 census for Greene Co., IN page 313. h/h 486 Peter Tate, 42M, Farmer, 1000, NC Margaret 39F, OH Mary 22F, IN Margaret 1F, IN Next door is John Jones 82 from Wales. Alexander Brown married Malinda Webster 1 Dec. 1842. 1850 Daviess Co., IN Census page 34 (transcribed) h/h 306 Brown, Alexander 31M, Farmer, IN Melinda 24F, IN Sarah 6F, IN Then I found Alexander Brown's probate in 1855 and finalized in 1858. Something involved the proceeds from the Hawkins Estate as well as that of Benjamin Brown. (I found Alexander's wife Melinda signing her "X" in different papers). Then under different biographies, I found this from HISTORY OF KNOX & DAVIESS COUNTIES INDIANA; "Joseph C. Allison,married Charlotte Brown in 1872. Charlotte was born in 1853 the daughter of Alex and Malinda Brown." I found also in Davies Co., 1850 Census page (transcribed) 14 h/h 121 BROWN, Benjamin F. 35M, farmer, 1500, IN. Violet J. 26F, KY (Violet was the sister to Charles Wallace who married Lavina Peterson my Kizziah's Petersons sister). Martha L. 7F, IN Aaron T. 6M, IN John 4M, IN William 2M, IN. I'm so hoping someone out there has a connection to these Browns. I've been off this list since last August. For those of you who tried to help me for about three years and for those that are new, I'm a descendant of James Brown b. 15 Nov 1816 OH or KY who married Kizziah Peterson 24 July 1838 in Charleston, Coles Co., IL moved to AR by 1846 then moved to CA in 1852.
