WILLIAM BROWN, (b. LI or RI, in the year of 1758 or 1761). died February 10, 1826 in Lewis County, NY, age 65 or 68 (it appeared both ways, but is likely to be 68 years. making him born 1758.) A William Brown located in East Hartford, Conn. between the years 1780 and 1801, lost several small children in death in a fire. It is not known if it was this same man or not. He married in Connecticut, probably East Hartford. after 1789 to Jerusha (Rockwell) Burnham, (widow of Simeon), who was said to have been born in Nova Scotia about 1756, but baptised in East Hartford, CT June 28, 1763. She probably brought 5 Burnham children to the marriage with William Brown. Jerusha Rockwell Burnham Brown died in Lewis County, NY. Oct. 1, 1839. There were at least two children, and possibly a third one in this marriage: 1. Acci (?) Brown, b. ?; md __Rice(?) 2. Laban Brown, b 11-23-1795 Ct.; md. 15-1819 Jeff Co., NY.. Damaris Bamey Laban and Damaris migrated to Auburn Ohio, and settled in Jackson Co IN. They had Jerusha, Emily R., Caroline, Minerva, Sarah Sophronia, Francis William (twin), Franklin E. (twin), and John Marshall Brown. 3. John Brown. (b. 3-22-1800) Ct; md 4-25-1824 Lewis Co, N.Y, to Lucinda Stone (b. 4-8-1800) Her father served in the Revolutionary War and died as a result Of "bone sickness" contracted from the war. John died in Leyden, NY. on 25 Aug 1879, and is buried in Leyden Hill Cemetery. north of Boonevllle. N.Y They had Jerusha, William, Sarah, Albert, Alfred, James, Lucy, Elvina, and Helen. I have been told that some of Jerusha's Rockwell brothers or cousins lived in Lewis County NY, and that she spent her last 13 years with one of them, although I can't confirm this. I have never been able to find present-day descendants of John Brown and Lucinda Stone, any of the Burnham kids, or any trace of the mysterious "Acci". My Barney ancestors are well-documented, but these Browns elude me. Jim Patrick
