    2. Good morning, I'm not related but might have some information that will help. I found David with his parents in 1900 Maple Branch, Wilcox, GA. He was transcribed as being 13 and born June 1888. His mother's age must have been off by a few years as that would have meant she was 50 when she had him. There is too much scribbling on that page. I did see where it looked like he was 21 years of age which would have put his birth at about 1878. But then, he should have been listed on the 1880 census. Tom and Martha are in Pineview, Wilcox, GA, in 1910, with son Charley. They are still in Pineview in 1920. They don't appear in the 1930 census. I would think they died between 1920-1930 but I don't find them in the GA Death Index. I also did not find them in the death certificate section of The Georgia Vault. If you can find an obituary or funeral home records, chances are that will help you find David. Also, Charlie/Charley/Charles J Brown died 11 Nov 1949 in Baldwin County and was living in Wilcox County at the time of his death. Once again, an obituary or funeral home records would be good to search. Funeral home records list relatives and where they were living at the time of the funeral. Those records of the siblings might also give a clue or two on David. Cemeteries are good, too, but I haven't been able to locate any for that area online. David was still alive in 1910 as his mother stated that all 6 children were still living then. I wish you happy hunting. Molly In a message dated 3/8/2009 6:51:43 P.M. 1. [BROWN] Lizzie Melissa Brown and "Shuck Hay"
    2. Good morning to all, Every now and then I have the need to rock the boat and I truly mean no offense to anybody so please just bear with me. John Barnett Brown and Penelope Ann Charlotte Sisson's daughter L. M. Brown was born about 1841 as per the GA 1850 census. This is the only record in which I have ever seen her listed. Family history says she is Lizzie Melissa Brown who married "Shuck Hay", died shortly after marriage around 1860 and is buried in Forrester's Chapel Cemetery in Randolph County, AL. Lizzie is also reported to have had three children - John, Mollie and Thomas. Lizzie may have married "Shuck" Hay. She may have died not long after they married. She may be buried in Forrester's Chapel Cemetery. There are 76 unmarked graves in that cemetery, who can say? I do not think that the Lizzie Hay buried with just a stone and her name [no dates] is Lizzie daughter of John and Penelope. She most likely belongs to John and Mary Ann Stewart Hay of Randolph County, AL. They had G. William Thomas, Nancy A Elizabeth [Lizzie], Martha Delilah [Mattie], Molley, Vicie Louella [Ella] and John Calvin. In three different areas in the cemetery there are Lizzie, Ella and Martha Hay [no dates]; Tommy, Mary A, and Johnny Hay [no dates] and then Molly Hay [no dates]. I believe Mary A. Hay is the mother and the others are six of her children. Does any one have any records which prove L. M. Brown is Lizzie Melissa Brown along with any other records for her? Just to rock the boat a little bit more, John Barnett Brown is John and not Johnathan/Jonathan. I have been to his and Penelope's graves in Malone. I have also never seen him listed as anything else in any records. Since John died in 1895 and Penelope in 1908, are there any photos of them in existence? Thank you for hearing me out. 3. Some old houses did pretty well with just fireplaces, but it wasn't convenient and easy. We had a 50th anniversity party for my grandparents in the house my ggrandfather built in 1878 with 2 fireplaces. It was 12 degrees the night before and a foot of snow on the ground. We had about 100 people at the party and it got so hot in the house we had to open the doors!   But then there is the house my gggrandmother and family built in TX  abt 1867 after moving from a fine plantation home in AL. The lone chimney was made of mud and sticks and the family had to move the quilts  they slept on around the room when it rained to avoid the leaks in the roof.   All wasn't bad, but all wasn't good either. --- On Tue, 2/17/09, R. 1. Re: [BROWN] Illness List --- question
    2. Mark Catarrh would make sense. Essentially translates to Bronchial Discharge. If he died from it then it would be a case of his bronchial tubes filling with fluid of some sort and pretty much drowning him... like bronchial pneumonia/ bronchitis some people still call it "walking pneumonia". Ouch. The lists of old medical conditions are not only helpful, but rather fascinating. Jo H In a message dated 2/16/2009 11:01:09 P.M. 3. By the way - Billie - thanks to you also for the contribution. Funny - if the weather were nicer I'd go next door and visit my neighbor who is an undertaker.... it is so nice to have people who are willing to help and share online ( esp in the chills of winter) Mark ---- I have grown to really hate the cold --- I can't imagine how our ancestors of the past dealt with the frigid weather living in homes that were anything but comfortable - warm and cozy --- they must have been fairly rugged folk - to survive for any length of time. 3. You're most welcome. I had seen this listed many times before as a cause of death, so was somewhat familiar with the term.
