    1. [BROWN] BROWN, ?Father, Son Edward Brown
    2. Gregory Hernandez
    3. Hi List.. I am looking for the Father and mother of Edward Brown, b1808, unknown where. When he married and when he fought in the Mex-Amer War, he stated that he came from TN. Family lore also speaks about something 'Green', unknown whether the reference was to a town, location, river, or County. I have the marriage church notation, it states that he was 'Protestant' and his father was named 'Avery' (spelling maybe off) and that his mother was 'Maria or Mary'. I will be happy to provide the entire family list from Edward on to any relative. greg

    1. [BROWN] MY BROWN LINE
    2. Hello Listers, unfortunately my Brown line at this time consists on only 1 person. His name is Mark Thomas Brown (also went by M.T. Brown), born May 10, 1823 in Washington County, Tennessee. He is on the 1850 census with his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Hale) and 4 children John, Joseph, Tellema and Robert. A cousin and myself have been searching for any additional info on parents, siblings of Mark Thomas and it's about like he didn't even exist for those 27 years in between his birth and showing up on the census. If anyone can help would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Gayle

    2. My Brown "brick wall" is Amos Andrews Brown, born 1780 in New Haven, CT. He migrated to Switzerland Co., IN, then Woodford Co, IL and finally to Wayne Co., IA. I believe his parents to Asa Brown and Abigail Andrews, but can't find the proof. The Jacobus books, Families of Ancient New Haven, stops with the marriage of Asa and Abigail and I can't seem to find any other source. They later moved to Freehold, Green Co. NY. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been searching for over 20 years! Jeanne Roland Des Moines, IA

    2. Dear Deb from IL: You wrote to say that you are hesitant to ask for help as you do not have anything to give back. Please do not feel that way. You may not have anything to give a person who helps you in a certain area which is OK. I'm sure you have something to help others. You may be able to help someone by looking something up in your dictionary or Atlas. A quick trip to your local town hall, library or grave yard may help others. Deb Genealogy is a team sport and you are a player. All that is asked of you is for you to do your best for the team. Jim wrote; Anyone for going back to BROWN genealogy?? All these comments aren't genealogy. Geeee Jim it seems to me like sharing is genealogy. If you get your data from a library, town hall, grave yard, CD, E-mail or wherever someone is sharing their info with you. Lighten up guy. John

    3. Hi, List! Here's my contribution to the roll-call. This is as far back as I have on my Brown/e lines. I am particularly interested in anyone who has info on any NICHOLAS Brown. My Nicholas (b. 1765) was a patriot in the Rev. War at a very young age. The name Nicholas is VERY common in my family on all branches, and because family lore says we're related to the Nicholas Brown who endowed Brown University in Rhode Island, I'm desperately trying to trace back before old George to see if there was a Nicholas Browne that all the subsequent descendants were named after. Everyone else in the family had either British royalty names (i.e., Edward, George, William, James, etc.) or Biblical names. So, I'm asking myself...where did the Nicholas come from (it sounds Russian)? My family is originally from England, and isn't connected with the German Braun's or the Scottish/Irish Browns. Also would love to hear from any who has info on Capt. OLIVER Brown who was famous in the Rev. War. He was born in Lexington, Mass. and finally settled in Brooke Co., Va (WV) where he died. Family lore says we're also related to him. OK, now that I've rambled long enough, here's my old George and his children. Have quite a bit of info on his descendants, so if you think there's a possible match, just send me an e-mail and I'll check to see if I have anything. Rita (Brown) Werner Taylorville, IL GEORGE BROWNE was born Abt. 1690 in England, and died Abt. 1770 in Frederick Co., MD. He married MARY STEVENSON Abt. 1714. She died Abt. 1771. 3. And then there are people like me-- who really don't have any information to share because they don't have any idea who the parents or any of the siblings are ; and are just hoping someone else will have them on their family tree. I've been searching for 25 years, and have yet to find a descendant of Henry Brown even though he had 12 children and I always list their names in my queries. 1. [BROWN] RE: Browns from all over the place !

    3. RE: Roll Call Reposting my list of Browns - not a lot (sorry), but it's all I have at this time: My gr.grandma:Alma Minnie Bishop nee Brown (or Minnie Alma) - born: 12/18/1883 in Chicago, IL (?) - died: 11/20/1961 in Walkerton, IN - Buried in Hillside, IL with her husband - Resided in various states with husband : WA / Maywood & Oak Park,IL / Culver,IN - Father's name: Hiram Brown - Mother's name: unknown - I know of 1 sister: Ethel "Callie" Brown who had at least 1 child - named Robert ? As of 1947, Ethel was "Ethel Carlson" from Tampa, FL Married: William Voss Bishop and had 11 children listed as follows (don't know the birth order): - Harvey m. Hazel and lived in IN - William (my grandpa) m. Julia Johnson and lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin - they had 4 sons: - William m. Olive ? and resided in WI, CA, IL,& back to WI - they had 9 children - Kenneth (my dad) m. (living) - lived in Green Bay,WI / IL and they had 6 children - son (living) m. (living) - they had 4 children - WI - Gene - died as an infant - John m. ???? - Glen m. ?Vern???? - Alma m. Archie Graham and lived in Seattle, WA - Edna m. ? Rhodes - lived in CA and had ? children - Sarah - died at 4 years old ( buried with her parents) - Ruth - died at 2 mo.s old (also buried with her parents) - Ruth m. Roland Hanson and lived in the Chicago,IL area. They had 2 children. - Daughter(living) married & had 2 children - IL - Daughter(living) married (spouse living) & had 1 daughter - IL What makes my research so difficult, is the fact that the 9 above children were split from their parents. Don't have the time frame on this. The older ones basically fended for themselves, Alma was "given" to an unknown sister of Alma Minnie's in WA, (was told that several of Alma Minnie's relatives went to Canada but not sure) and Ruth & the 2 living daughters were sent to an orphanage. As soon as he could, my grandpa William, with the help of his wife, took the 3 girls from the orphanage and raised them along with their own children. Thankfully, all 9 children stayed in close touch with one another and eventually re-formed a relationship with their parents - Alma Minnie & William Voss. The sad thing is, none of them talked about their past. Especially about their Indian heritage on Alma Minnie's side. ("mixed-marriages" were taboo I guess). Now, the 2 living daughters are getting on in years & really don't remember too much. I really hope that this sounds familiar to someone and we could connect. Deb from IL
