    3. I see we're sharing again, I love this part. If it weren't for sharing periodically I wouldn't be where I am. I started out in the 60's when we didn't have the resources so readily available, and it took me 30 years to get to this point. 28 of those years I simply had a GGrandfather with a unique name, I did know where he was born but that was it. Needless to say we have certainly come a long way thanks to those of you who read and share with people who are even off the list. That's how I got this far today. Bless you all, to those "newbies" hang in there "miracles" do happen even with the Brown's. Rather than send this all at once I'm sending pieces. So if interested keep that in mind and add the pieces together. Judy Brown Rasmussen, CO Descendants of William Brown Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM1 BROWN was born in Of Boston, MA. 1. [BROWN] Re: BROWN
    2. My Browns originated from London. I, too, have a brick wall. But since everyone wants to list their Browns, here goes: G-grandfather William Brown, was a whitesmith. DOB unknown, but I would guess about 1820. Grandfather John Robert Brown died in 1928, St. Pancras, was married to Ada Beatrice Joy at Teddington in 1895. DOB guessed at 1854. Can't find Baptism or birth. His sister Mary Ann at age 20 was married in 1873 to Joseph Campbell in Bethnal Green. So she was born about 1853, but can't find the cert or bap to date. Father John ALfred William Brown married Gertrude Nellie Laura Hastings in 1920 in St. Pancras. He was born 1897 in Fulham. My father had a sister Ellen Elsie Jennie, who married George Waite, had a daughter Joan, and a son who name eludes me. Joan married a Joseph FORGHAM. My father also had a brother Frederick, who remained a bachelor until he died at age 64. Can't think of another thing Take care, Ken BRown Calif.

    3. Littleberry Brown married Mary (Polly) Bailey in Franklin Co., KY 30 Mar 1830. They had between 6 & 9 kids, depending on whose telling the story. Four of their kids married 4 Cheaney brothers & sisters, all from Franklin Co. By 1850 census, Polly is no longer in the home (or has been put into a home). I know several generations of descendents through their son, Samuel, and his wife, Nancy Jane Cheaney, but don't have much info after the 1950's.

    1. [BROWN] BROWN, David Scotland >Ontario, Canada
    2. Julie Campbell-Peters
    3. My Grandmother Ethel Maud BROWN was born to: CATHERINE CADGER b\1883 - d\?, Catherine is listed on an extract of the birth certificate as a domestic servant of 108 Hill Street Garnethill Glasgow, Scotland. ETHEL MAUDE BROWN CADGER (as is on extract) b\August 24 1902 8:15 pm at 101 Water St. Glasgow, Scotland. (district of St. Rollox Lanark). My Great Grandfather, David BROWN & his wife Margaret(Maggie)MACDONALD took the baby from Catherine Cadger. Ethel Maud BROWN CADGER was either adopted or was the illegitimate daughter of David BROWN. David BROWN b/Dec 1848 d/1935. I believe Margaret MACDONALD was b/abt 1866 d/1950. These dates may not be exact. My Grandmother Ethel was raised on the Isle of Skye by Margaret' parents and around 1911 she ended up in a place called Camault (mention of Lochcarron). >From a letter I saw she was living with someone named Annie MacLennan. Margaret & Ethel came to Canada 1914. I believe David BROWN was already in Canada and sent for them. I did find David BROWN's gravestone in Hamilton Ont Can. All it said was David Brown died Aug 27, 1935. My mother said David BROWN was born in Scotland. The girl at the cemetery office said the book said he was born in England. The date I have for David's birth came from an old book my grandmother had, but the date fits with how old the girl at the cemetery office said he was when he died. My mother said Margaret was about 18 years younger than David and 1866 fits with the age the girl at the cemetary office gave me for Margaret at death. No gravestone for Margaret. My mother said David BROWN was a LACE BUYER for ? company travelling around on ships all the time. Once they got to Canada, they lived in Copper Cliff Ontario, Durham Ontario, Mount Forest Ontario, and Hamilton Ontario. Why would an old man with a family move that much? David BROWN wrote an article to a newspaper in Hamilton, Ontario around 1930. In the article he talks about his 'older brother' dead some 30 years. No name for older brother, but clues indicate the name might have been William. David says his brother went to New Zealand and opened a little school at a place called Tomahawk near Dunedin and that he closed the school and returned 'home' to Scotland on the ship Otago. So brother maybe William BROWN,a teacher, Scotland>New Zealand>Scotland, born before 1848 and died about 1900. >From an old letter, Ethel tells her father David BROWN that Uncle Willy was in an asylum. David may have had a sister, Mary SMITH who lived in Chicago and worked at Quaker Oats. The Latter Day Saints search comes up with a David Brown & Maggie Macdonald marriage 1866, Scotland, but 1866 is the approximate year of birth I have for Margaret Macdonald, so that cannot be. I have a picture of them and she looks 20 years younger than him. That's all I know. Sincerely, Julie Campbell-Peters Scarborough, Ontario.

    3. I am still trying to find the parents of Spencer Brown. Spencer married Mary (Polly) Debnam in Franklin County, NC 13 Dec 1821 or 27. I have seen the date both ways. This couple later moved to Maury Co., TN and then to Williamson Co., TN where he died in 1836. They had three children -- Virginia E., Mary Anne and William Robert. >From older members of the family I was told there was a connection between Spencer and the Fosters and I was told that Spencer had a sister named Fanny. A person who is researching the Foster told me of a Frank Brown who married Elizabeth Hall Foster widow of Richard Foster and they had a girl named Fanny. Does anyone know if this couple could be the parents of Spencer. Any help appreciated and I am willing to share what I have about Spencer and his family. 1. [BROWN] Henry Eugene BROWN
    2. Candie Parker Wilson
    3. HENRY EUGENE BROWN was born on 18 Mar 1882 in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins Cnty, TX. He died 30 May 1925 in San Diego, San Diego Cnty, CA. He married HELEN MARIE VOGEL on 13 Dec 1913 in Waukegan, Lake Cnty, IL, who was born 08 Feb 1894 in Waukegan, Lake Cnty, IL, and died 03 Aug 1985 in Chula Vista, San Diego Cnty, CA. They are both buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego Cnty, CA. The first child, RICHARD EUGENE BROWN, was born in Illinois 17 Dec 1914. He died 30 Oct 1992 at the San Diego Naval Hospital, Coronado, San Diego Cnty, CA. He married KATHERINE KNOX, who was born 18 Apr 1914 in California, and died 24 Nov 1988 in San Diego, San Diego Cnty, CA. Their first child, DONALD EUGENE BROWN, was born 05 Jul 1939 in Imperial Cnty, CA and died 07 Aug 1980 in La Mesa, San Diego Cnty, CA. All three are buried at Holy Cross Cemetary, San Diego, San DIego Cnty, CA. Two daughters survive. The second child, JUNE MARIE BROWN, was born in Boston, Suffolk Cnty, MA 21 Jun 1916. She died 03 Jul 1969 in Memphis, Shelby Cnty TN. She Married JOHN ALLEN PARKER, who was born 06 May 1907 in Des Moines, Polk Cnty, IA, and who died 10 Dec 1973 in Memphis, Shelby Cnty, TN. They are both buried at Memphis National Cemetary, Memphis, Shelby Cnty, TN. One daughter, SALLY TERESA PARKER, was born 05 Feb 1953 in Alemeda Cnty, CA and died 16 Aug 1985 in Nashville, Davidson Cnty, TN. She is buried at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Hermitage, Davidson Cnty, TN. Two daughters and two sons survive. The third child, VIRGINIA MAY BROWN, was born in Norfolk, Ind City, VA on 31 May 1922. She died 06 May 1992, in Saratoga, Santa Clara Cnty, CA. She married CHARLES FEATHERLING MACLEAN, who was born 19 Jul 1914 in Tacoma, Pierce Cnty, WA, and who died 12 Jun 1994 in Saratoga, Santa Clara Cnty, CA. They were cremated. One daughter and one son survive. HENRY's father reportedly died early of the same heart problems that HENRY did; and althought his given name is unknown, I suspect EUGENE was his middle name. His mother's maiden name is thought to have been SARAH SHERMAN. Both father and mother are listed as unknown on his death certificate. According to family history, HENRY actual died on a ship at sea off the coast of California. He was listed as a US Navy pay clerk on the back of a photo taken 23 Sep 1906 in Guantanomo Bay, Cuba. He was a member of the Elk's in Waukegan, Lake Cnty, IL. He was known as GENE, and his wife was known as MARIE. They had also lived in Long Island City, Queens Cnty, NY; and had only been in Coronado, San Diego Cnty, CA for 122 days when he died. His youngest daughter turned 3 the day after his death. The summer of 1961, on a trip from California to Tennessee, my family made a stop in the Dallas-Fort Worth area so that two of his female relatives could meet with us at the motel. Since I was but a child then, and nearly 40 years have passed, I don't remember much beyond that and the fact that they were "old" like my gramma. And like my grampa would have been had he not died on 30 May 1925.
