    2. TJ & Diane Morris
    3. Hi. I'm new to the list, so I thought I would divulge a little information about my Brown ancestry in hopes of corresponding with distant relatives. I have back as far as Thomas and Sara Browne of Lavenham, Suffolk, England, whose son Thomas immigrated to the states in 1637 and married Bridget. My Browns eventually moved to Whitingham, Vermont, where my great-great-great-grandfather was born in 1810. George W. moved to Crawford County, Pennsylvania at some point after his first wife died and possibly after he married my great-great-great-grandmother, Amanda. George W. and Amanda eventually settled in Bloomfield Township, where George was buried along with several family members. Best wishes to all in your research. 1. [BROWN] Brown Family
    2. Charles Eglise
    3. Hi, I am new to this list and hope that someone can help me find my Brown ancestors & descendents. Here is what I have on my Brown family. . My gggrandfather Staten/Slater Brown was born about 1799 in Tennessee, North Carolina or possibly Virginia. He and Dicy J. Coffield were the parents of my ggrandfather William Wesley Brown who was born Jan. 9, 1823 in North Carolina. The 1830 Census shows Staten & Dicy Coffield Brown(can't find a marriage record) living in Halifax Cnty., North Carolina. There were 6 children in the home, 1 female child and 5 males. One of these males was my ggrandfather William Wesley Brown and I believe another male was Sandy Brown, born about 1827. During the 1830's Staten Brown and family moved to Rush Cnty., Indiana and the 1840 census shows the family living in Ripley Twp., Rush Cnty., Indiana. Staten had a child Mary, born about 1831 and a son Andrew born about 1837. Evidently Dicy passed away and on Feb. 6, 1845 Staten Brown married Pennelope Ruby in Rush Cnty., Indiana. Penny was born 1817 in North Carolina. The 1850 Census shows the family living in Madison, Jefferson Cnty., Indiana with the following in the home: Staten BROWN Age:51 b. in N.Carolina Penelope BROWN Age:33 b. in N. Carolina William BROWN (a carpenter) Age:26 b. in No. Carolina Mary E. BROWN Age:18 b. in No. Carolina Andrew I. BROWN Age:11 b. in Indiana Henry U. BAILEY Age:10 b. in No. Carolina Cassius M. BROWN Age: 5 b. in Indiana John Quincy BROWN Age: 1 b. in Indiana The 1860 Census shows the family living in Hadley, Barry P.O., Pike Cnty., Illinois. with the following children: Staten BROWN Age: 61, b. in North Carolina Penelope BROWN Age 43 b. in No. Carolina Harrison BROWN Age: 20 b. in North Carolina Cassius BROWN Age: 15 b. in Indiana John Quincy BROWN Age: 11 b. in Indiana Jessee BROWN Age:10 b. in Illinois Henry BROWN Age: 5 b. in Illinois Henryetta BROWN Age: 5 b. in Illinois Allen BROWN Age: 4 b. in Illinois Sandy Brown married Sarah Ann Morgan July 19, 1848 in Madison, Jefferson Cnty., Indiana. The 1860 Census shows Sandy living close to Staten Brown with the following in the home. Sandy BROWN Age 35 b: in No. Carolina Sarah Ann BROWN Age 33 b. in Indiana Mary BROWN Age 11 b. in Indiana William BROWN Age 8 b. Illinois Samuel BROWN Age 7 b. in Illinois Robert S. BROWN Age 4 b. in Illinois Sandy BROWN Age 7/12 b. in Illinois Andrew BROWN Age 23 b. in Indiana The 1870 census shows Penelope Brown living in Bear Grove Twp., Fayette Cnty., Illinois with the following in the home: John Quincy BROWN Age:11 b. in Indiana Jessee BROWN Age:10 b. in Illinois Henry BROWN Age: 5 b. in Illinois Henryetta BROWN Age: 5 b. in Illinois Allen BROWN Age 4 b. in Illinois Christiana BROWN age 10 b.in Illinois I can not find a trace of Staten Brown after 1860 nor can I find a trace of him prior to 1830. The census films show that he was born in N.C. The death record of my ggrandfather William Wesley Brown says that his parents Staten Brown & Dicy Coffield were born in Tennessee. William Wesley Brown married Thankful Delight Smith in Aug. 8. 1852 in Pike Cnty., Illinois. They had 12 children, that I know of, and I wonder if some of the middle names of these children were surnames of family members. The childrens names & places of birth are as follows: Adrian Jackson BROWN, b. in Illinois Oliver Howard BROWN, b. in Illinois William Lloyd BROWN, b. in Illinois Dicy Jane BROWN, b. in Illinois Virta Angeline BROWN, b. in Illinois Estella May BROWN, b. in Illinois William Eugene BROWN, b. in Kansas Zoe Trine BROWN, b. in Kansas Bertha Pearl BROWN, b. in Kansas Anna Devol BROWN, b. in Iowa Jennie Emigene BROWN, b.in Iowa William Everett BROWN(my grandfather), b. in Iowa I would love to find some information on the children of Staten Brown & the names of his parents.. Any help and/or leads will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sandy in Maine

    2. Susan Headley
    3. Suzanne I am also researching OSBURN (spelled various ways, but our spelling of this surname was OSBURN). I understand yours is used as a "first name" but sometimes Surnames got tacked onto our ancestors as first names. I do know that they (my OSBURN's) were in AL at this time, in Perry Co AL. They also were in Cherokee Co AL (by Tenn.) However, My OSBURN has no relation to my BROWN. 1. [BROWN] Culpeper Browns
    2. Fellow Brown researchers: I appeal to you: Help!!! I'm trying to find my connection for John G. Brown. This is what I have thus far: John G., b. 21 Aug. 1771, d. 1835 in KY. +1st Elizabeth Gibbs, d/o of Francis & Nancy (Head) Gibbs, b. 21 Dec. 1777, d. 1 Aug. 1823, m. 28 June 1803, Madison Co., VA. Their children: Francis G., b. 28 July 1804 "near Culpeper Courthouse," m. Frances J. Goodwin, d/o Lloyd King & Mary Jane (Graves) Goodwin. Lloyd was the s/o James Coleman & Nancy Coleman (Graves) Goodwin. John A. Zacharias H. "Zack" Robert Lucy +2nd Elizabeth Tinsley, d/o of William. m. 17 Feb. 1825, Madison Co., VA. Their children: Joshua William Pleasant Zachary? (that's what it looks like in the will of John G.) Now I've come across the will of Francis Brown (d.1690/91) and I'm wondering if there's a connection there, also. Would someone, pretty please, point me in the right direction? Thank you & best wishes. ~Virginia

    1. Re: [BROWN] Spamming
    2. It is against Rootswebs agreement to Spam any of the lists on here. Usually the spammers will sign on once and send their posting and immediatly unsubscribe therefore never seeing any of the messages you leave after they do their business. The best thing to do is to let Rootsweb know and then Rootsweb will block them from ever being able to subscribe to any list again. Now to make this a real email. I am looking for any siblings of my Solomon Brown born in St. Francois CO. MO and lived in AR from 1834 til his death in 1863 during the Civil War. Solomons father was Wilson Brown. 1. [BROWN] Spamming
    2. The Roses would have better served their purpose if they had not provided the spammer another listing by copying and placing his information again on the site. I agree, there should be no commercial use of this site. I hope the controller, overseer, high muckity muck or whatever will fix it so this person cannot again place data on the site. 1. [BROWN] Message from List Manager-Spam
    2. Judy Jackson
    3. Good afternoon all I forward the spam message to rootsweb and below is their reply. I have check to make sure the address is still not subscribe to the list. Judy List manager "Yes--the word "join" in the subject resulted in this particular spammer getting subbed to the list and allowed the message to be posted. If the address is still subbed to your list unsub it. Margaret has been unsubbing some of these spam addresses but check to be sure this one got unsubbed. Please apologize for the spam to your list members and tell them we're working to see that this sort of thing won't happen in the future. It was a fluke." ===== Bucks Co.
