Hi, Below is the obituary for my great grandmother Francis BROWN SMITH. Does anybody recognize any of the names in her obit? Mrs. Francis Smith Fort Plain-Mrs. Francis Amie Smith, 73, died at her home in Hallsville yesterday after a brief illness of complications of diseases. She was born June 16, 1860, the daughter of the late Hiram and Sylvia Shaute Brown. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. LeVere Deer and Mrs. Lola Bailey of Ilion; Mrs. Bert Tyson of East Frankfort; one son, Floyd Smith, Ilion: two grandsons, Willard and William Martin, both of Fort Plain; two halfsisters, Mrs. Olive Wright of West Winfield, and Mrs. Mae King, Utica. Thanks, Kathy
Does anyone know if their is a web site to look-up military records of U.S. Navy personnel who served in WWI? All I have is the name, service (US Navy), and enlistment years (1917-18) at Great Lakes Naval Training Center--- and I'm looking for the enlisted grade and/or occupation specialty. I have the old photos which show no rank on the shoulder, so they were probably taken at the time of enlistment. George W. Page

I'm looking for anyone who can connect with Euphemia M. BROWN (married name). I hope this name is unusual enough that it will help someone make a connection. I believe she was born about 1843. Her maiden name may have been MURRAY. Thank you in advance. Debbie Idaho

Paul, I am also looking for a John & Mary Brown. Yours are about the same time frame & locals but to my knowledge this was my Grandfathers mother & father. His name was William Brown b. 16 Sept.(Dec.) 1880/81. He was about 9 yrs old when his Mother Mary, died. He also had 2 brothers I knew of, Franklin & Jim. As told Jim was so short at adult age he had slept in my Aunts baby bed on a visit. He & Frank died in Ca. of cancer. Frank donated his body to science, When Mary died John married Harriet, a mail carrier in Mo. Any connection ? I'm clueless !!!!! Thanks, Brenda in Missouri
Hi, I am passing this on to everyone that might be interested. You just change the state for the census list, read below. Barbara To: NC-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NC-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Census Lookup Mailing lists Hello Everyone! I have had to reword and rework the guidelines for the CENSUS-LOOKUP mailing lists and also include subscription instructions. I am sending these below. The lists have been growing like crazy since I created them three days ago and I expect the growth to continue as the word spreads. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in joining. Of course the more people we have the more help we will be for each other. Please keep in mind that we are only a few days old and if your lookup request is not answered, try again in a week or two. Some of the state lists have already reached over 150 subscribers <G> Others have not been "advertised" as much and have fewer members. Hang in there and don't get discouraged if your not answered right away, these lists will be a great asset to our research after we reach the people and let them know that these lists are available. I am encouraging everyone to send this email to their surname and county mailing lists as well as to our cousins. Finally, If you have the material to help a fellow researcher, please use it. Thanks, Kelly Kellygirl3398@mpinet.net (Subscription information at the end of this e-mail) Guidelines for posting to the lists: Established 11 October 2000 EMAIL SUBJECT LINES: COUNTY,YEAR,SURNAME NO FLAMING or you will be unsubbed without notice. By this I mean not only being rude or mean to each other but there will be NO and I do mean NO debating here about the Census Projects. This list is for everyone who wants to research. NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties" Be specific, Name the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as much info as possible. LIMIT your requests to ONE PER CENSUS YEAR and SURNAME My Mama taught me that Thank you and Please are always nice too :) A few people have emailed me asking how to sign up for the new lists and what to do. - ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. All lists are XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D-request@rootsweb.com The XX is to be removed and the two letter abbreviation for the state you are looking in added in its place. I am looking for any descendants of (Captain?) William and Diadama (Wheeler) Brown (d. Franklin County, NY) or their grandson Wesley E. Brown (last known to be a doctor in Massachusetts in 1880's). I would like to compare/share photographs from 1800's with the hope of getting ID's for them. Also would like to find background/ancestry for William Brown, supposedly born Vermont, moved to Malone/N. Bangor, NY early 1800's. Any help would be appreciated.
