I don't have much information. Brown is such a common name it it hard to document with good records. Here is my lineage through my gggf. Lineage Name Born Location State Mother Jessie Mae Chastain Cox, 06/16/1912, Crossville, AL G Mother Sarah Ora "Sallie" Brown Chastain, 10/16/1885, Cleborne County, AL GG Father Raymond Issac Brown, 6/25/1855, Rockdale, Randolph County, AL GGG Father W. L. (Maybe Love") Brown, Abt. 1835, I am told that Raymond Issac Brown had large land holdings in DeKalb County, AL near Crossville, Boaz, and Kilpatrick. He left my Grand Mother two farms, one near Kilpatrick and one near Boaz. I understand that the larger portion of his farm is now the Auburn University, North East Alabama, Experiment Station. He married Evie Ola Thrash, b. 11 May 1866, on 15 Jan 1885. I am not sure where. My Grandmother was the oldest of nine children, the Others were, Benjamin O., Fararmer (sp?) "Farmer" Allen, Vestula Estell, Alice Pearl, Frannie Viola, Alma Celie, an Infant daughter, and Beulah Lois. I have birthdates. A child was born every three years after Benjamin in 1887. Most of the children remained in or around DeKalb County all their lives, on the farms they inherited. Most, if not all, are buried in the graveyard at the First Methodist Church in Crossville, DeKalb County, AL. I do have some info. on wives and Children, if anyone recognizes the family. If anyone has GEDCOM files, or files from other databases, related to this family, I would like a copy. This Email address is on a server which will be closed down soon. A better address for me is chcox@e7cs.com. Thank you, have a nice day!! As a new subscriber to this list, I will post my BROWN ancestry. I am looking for information on William BROWN, born circa 1773 in Pennsylvania; married 10 January 1799 in Bourbon County, Kentucky to Elizabeth HORNBECK; died circa 1873 in Randolph County, Missouri. William was the son of Coleman BROWN. Coleman was killed on 12 July 1774, as he, William ROBINSON and Thomas HELLEN were pulling flax in a field opposite the mouth of Simpson's creek in what is now West Virginia. Cayuga Chief Logan, son of Shikellemus - a celebrated chief of the Cayuga nations -- fired the fatal shots, as recorded in "Chronicles of Border Warfare." Does anyone know the ancestry of Coleman BROWN? Thanks, Colleen Taylor

Haven't posted my Browns for awhile and I've had a few updates on my line since I posted last, so here goes: I am trying to find info on this line of Browns who are of American Indian descent. I believe they lived mainly in the Chicago area as my g.grandma, Minnie & her sister, Ethel were born in Chicago. I haven't been able to get their birth certs because I need their mothers' name. If anyone can connect, please e-mail me off the list. I was told that Hiram had siblings, but I can't seem to find any info on him. I have a feeling that he was not always from IL. **BROWN INFO: - Minnie "Alma" Brown m. William Voss Bishop at the age of 15, in 1898. They had 9 children which eventually they had given up - the "baby" was given to a relative, my grandpa raised the next 3 youngest, and the rest went out on their own. They remained in the Chicago area until 1943 when they moved to Culver, IN born: 1883 in Chicago,IL. died: Nov.1961 in Walkerton, IN. - buried in IL. Most knew her as Alma. -fathers' name:Hiram Brown - Hiram could even be his middle name - have no info on him. -mothers' name: unknown -siblings:only know of one: Ethel "Callie" Brown. Most knew her as Callie. born: 1893 in Chicago, IL. died: Jan. 1964 in Tampa, FL and is buried in the Chicago area with her son Robert. Discovered 3 marriages, and the first one I believe to be to ? - Hull. She had at least 1 child, a son named Robert Henry Hull. 2nd marriage was to a Rook. 3rd & final marriage was to Arvid Iver Carlson & they retired in Tampa, FL. in 1947.
