Greetings Gordon, I read through your email regarding your ancestor, and I have to confess that I thought your ancestor must have been named "Originall". I've seen some unusual (in my mind) names for people born a century or more ago, so I didn't bat my eyes too much on this name. I didn't realize this was your "Original" or "Brick Wall" BROWNE ancestor. Though I do now. I have a few of these "Original's" on several of my tree branches, so I understand not having their first name. :-) I have no further link to your tree, at this time, just wanted to respond. Take care. Sincerely, Melissa My location: Delta, BC, Canada (grew up in Ontario, Canada) My "Melissa's Place" page: http://members.nbci.com/kethera/ === Need a little extra cash? 3. Hi there Does anyone see a connection? Judy in BC, Canada I have the marriage certificate of GEORGE BROWN and SARAH ANN HEPHZIBAH DAVIS on December 17, 1902 at the Register Office in the District of Cheltenham in the County of Gloucester. George's age was 41 yrs., a widower, a post office clerk and his residence 1 Letchmore Villas, Cheltenham at the time of his marriage to Sarah. Sarah's age was 36 yrs., a spinster, and she lived at 62 Fairview St., Cheltenham at the time of her marriage to George. The marriage was in the presence of Eliza A. Lawyer and Margaret A. Evans. I look forward to hearing from anyone who may have information on Sarah and George's family. Thank you for reading this. Judy Hassall in Canada

    1. [BROWN] Roll Call: William T. BROWN
    2. Lonna Jean Conroy
    3. I am seeking information about my g-g-grandfather, William T. BROWN and his family. While I have found quite a bit of information about him after 1850, I haven't been able to locate him in Kentucky. I also have no clue about the maiden name of his wife. Seven of the nine children born to William and his wife remain a mystery. I offer the following information about my BROWN line. I apologize for the length but perhaps someone will find a connection or something useful. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks, Lonna Jean (Idaho) William T. BROWN was born 26 August 1817 somewhere in Kentucky, and died 09 February 1899 in Couch, Oregon Co., Missouri. He married Lear F. ? before 1843 in Kentucky. She was born in 1822 somewhere in Kentucky, and died after 1880 probably in Couch, Oregon Co., Missouri. The William T. BROWN family left Kentucky about 1849. Three of their nine children were born in Kentucky on or before September 1848. I first find them in the 1850 Lawrence Co., Tennessee Census (La-530723). Brown, William J., 32; Leah 27; Mary F., age 6, Jas. K., age 4; Missaring (Misinair), age 2; KY, KY. I do not know how long William and his family remained in Lawrence Co., TN. The remainder of their children were born in Tennessee. They next appear in the 1860 and 1870 Hardin Co., Tennessee Census records. 1860 Hardin Co., TN Census (Hd-2-284) Brown, William T., 42; Lear F., 37; Mary F., 16; James, 14; Missmier (Misinair), 12 (f); Joseph, 9; George W., 6; Archibald, 3; Elizabeth J., 1. 1870 Hardin County, Tennessee Census, 3rd Civil Dist., page 361; household 89; family 86; William age 50, M, W, Farmer, 0/900, KY; Leah, age 47, F, W, Keeping House, KY, SC, KY; Joseph, age 20, M, W, Works on Farm, TN; Missiniah (Misinair), age 21, F. W, KY; George, age 15, M, W, Works on Farm, TN; Archibald, age 14, M, W, Works on Farm, TN; Elizabeth, age 11, F, W, TN; Drury, age 8, M, W, TN; Cornelia, age 3, F, W, TN. Children born to William T. BROWN and Lear F. ? are: 1. Mary F. BROWN, b. 1844, Kentucky. 2. James K. BROWN, b. 1846, Kentucky. 3. Misinair N. BROWN, b. 07 September 1848, Kentucky; d. 04 December 1914, Tabor, Bingham County, Idaho. 4. Joseph BROWN, b. 1851, Tennessee. 5. George W. BROWN, b. April 1854, Tennessee; d. Aft. 1900 AR. 6. Archibald BROWN, b. Abt. 1856, Tennessee. 7. Elizabeth J. BROWN, b. Abt. 1859, Tennessee. 8. Drury M. BROWN, b. Abt. 1862, Hardin Co., Tennessee. 9. Cornelia BROWN, b. Abt. 1867, Hardin Co., Tennessee. My g-grandmother was Misinair N. BROWN. She married John William WHEELER 19 November 1874 in Hardin Co., TN, son of Thomas M. WHEELER and Louisa TYCER. He was born 17 October 1849 in Clifton, Wayne Co., TN, and died 12 Sept. 1934 in Tyhee, Bannock Co., Idaho. George W. BROWN married Sarah E. FOSTER 22 November 1874 in Hardin Co., TN, daughter of Francis FOSTER and Elizabeth MOSER. She was born 07 February 1860 in TN and died 15 July 1938 in Clay Co., Arkansas. George and Sarah obtained a marriage license on the same day that John W. WHEELER and Misinair did. Sometime around 1877-78, William T. BROWN moved to Oregon Co., Missouri. Accompanying William and his wife were two minor children, a son Drury M., and a daughter Cornilia as well as oldest son James K. who was apparently a widower with three minor children. John W. WHEELER, Misinair and an adopted son, Josiah W. AUSTIN also migrated to Dent Co., Missouri about this time. George W. BROWN, his wife Sara and two small daughters migrated to Oregon Co. where they are enumerated in the 1880 Oak Grove Township census record. 1880 Federal Census of Oak Grove Township, Oregon County, Missouri, Wm. Brown, Farmer, 62 KY; wife Lear (born in Kentucky whose father was born in South Carolina and whose mother was born in Kentucky), sons James, KY, and D.M., TN, and daughter Corna, TN; and three grandchildren were listed in this record: Jhon (John) W., a grandson 8 years of age, born in Tennessee; Mary, a granddaughter 5 years of age, born Tennessee; Sara, a granddaughter 3 years of age, born Tennessee. (Note: All three of the grandchildren show their father was born in Kentucky and their mother in Alabama. I surmise these children belong to James who was a widower at that time [LJC].) Source: 1880 Dent County, MO Census, Spring Creek Township, House 51, Wheeler, J.W., head of house, age 30, M, W, works on railroad, born TN, can read & write, father born NC, mother born TN; wife, Miss, age 31, F, W, keeping house, born KY, can read & write, parents born KY; daughter, Mertie, age 1, F, W, born MO, father born TN, mother born KY; adopted son, Austin, Josiah W., age 8, M, W, born TN. 1880 Oregon Co. Missouri Census, Oak Grove Township, enumerated June 1880, BROWN, G.W., M, W, age 26, farm laborer, born TN, parents born KY; Sarah E., F, W, age 20, keeping house, born TN, parents born TN; daughter Viola, F, W, age 4, born TN, parents born TN; daughter Minney, F, W, age 1, born TN, parents born TN. I have no information about Mary F., James K., Archibald, Elizabeth J., Drury M., or Cornelia. Nor do I know what became of the three grandchildren who were listed in William T. BROWN’S home in the 1880 Oregon Co., MO Census. I have found a James BROWN who purchased 40 acres in Oregon Co., MO 28 January 1904. He lived in nearby Shannon Co., MO at the time he bought the land. This property is 4 miles North and 1 mile East of the 83.52-acre homestead William T. BROWN proved in Couch, Oregon Co., MO 5 January 1892.

    3. Hi, Bev, I have a John H. Brown born in KY 7/8/1836, d. in Meade Co., KY 3/15/1873. He married Lucy Lewis 2/13/1859 in Meade Co., KY. Their children were: Cordelia, Finley, David, Laura J., Sally, Lee, and Victoria. I can trace this line down from their daughter Cordelia, and have John H.'s parents all the way back to George Browne in MD in early 1700's. I wonder if this John H. could be the grandfather of your John Albert Brown. It would be great to make a connection! 1. [BROWN] BROWN-MOORE-EARP Connection?: SC: 1700: Will of 1851
    2. Jackie (Woodward) Johnston
    3. Dear List, I have been researching my EARP line for some time now. I have a dilemma. I have been told that Nancy Earp that had three children Jefferson, Mariah and Jane. That settle in middle Tennessee From the 1830 to ????. Here maiden name was suggest to be MOORE. I was given the information someone that said that they got it from the the "Pendleton District and Anderson County SC, Wills, Estates, Inventories, Tax Returns and Census Records." compiled by Virginia Alexander, Collen Morse Elliott and Betty White. I then check other queries and found that she was the wife of Mr. Eliab MOORE Sr. This was taken from the will of John BROWN, Sr. John Brown is suppose to be the father of Nancy. The only connection that I see with the EARP's was that David D. EARP witness the will. Could someone help clarify? I was also wondering what the name for the EARP that she was suppose to have married? I am really confused. Any information would be appreciated. Spelling of names may vary. Thanks in advance. Jackie

    1. [BROWN] BROWN-EARP Connection
    2. Jackie (Woodward) Johnston
    3. Dear List, I am new to your list. I am looking for information on a Nancy BROWN that may have married a man by the name of EARP. I believe they were married in either North or South Carolina around the late part of the 1700's They may have moved to Georgia and on to Middle Tennessee. She may have been married before to a MOORE in South Carolina (no proof). He (EARP) may have died before the move to Tennessee. They had three children one boy and two girls. the children's name were Jefferson, Mariah and Jane. Jane first name was Nancy. Any information on these families would be appreciated. Spelling of names may vary. Thanks in advance. Jackie

    1. [BROWN] Re: BROWN-D Digest V01 #1
    2. Brenda: At first glance thought I might have found my Thomas BROWN, my grandfather, but not so. Thomas was a frequent BROWN name and without a middle initial, it is hard to identify them. My Thomas was born in tn - where I don't know - but he lived in Lincoln County when he married Parthenia Baites. His middle initial was "W". There was a Thomas O. in Lincoln County at the same time, they were near the same age, he he married a Baites, also. I am led to believe they may have been cousins but I can find nothing about my grandfather's parents or siblings. I have posted a couple of times with no results, so, please, if anyone reads this and has ANYTHING to offer that might help me, I would appreciate it. There was a Thomas from Lincoln County in theCivil War (no initial). He enlisted in the Mulberry community. Does this help? Nolene

    2. Bob Brown
    3. Dear Jim Patrick, I envy your many points of certainty with your BROWN surname. While there are certain elements of your posting that seem to show promise for my line I do not have enough information to make any kind of definitive connection. My earliest BROWN is my great grandfather, Charles L. Brown. Census information lists his birthplace as NY, 1843. Birthplace of father listed as RI, that of mother, NJ. I was encouraged to see that your family originated in RI and migrated to NY and had children there during the same time period as the birth of my ancestor. Not much to go on but when the pickins are slim small fruit begins to look mighty tasty. I have also seen information that says my Charles L. Brown served in Battery B, 3rd NY Light Artillery during the Civil War, although I have failed to confirm this following much research. If anyone else out there recognizes any possible connections to my (apparently) immaculately conceived Brown I would love to hear from you. Cheers, Bob Brown bobalu_snb@ionet.net Stillwater, OK

    3. I understood that the first name was Originall; you posted correctly, but even if you didn't, we're all friends (none of us perfect) and appreciate each person who takes the time to post. Who knows? One of you may have that missing link that I (or others) need. Now, to my response to the Brown-Rockwell line....I don't have any of your Brown info, but wonder if the Rockwell line has any connection to Porter Rockwell, personal body guard of the Mormon Prophet, Joseph Smith, Jr b. in NY. If so, there may be information to be found at www.familysearch.org. You might try researching Rockwell and other surnames related by marriage; that method has brought me quite a bit of information on some of my other lines. Please keep me in mind if you are researching a Brown line in 1700-1800 in western (Rockbridge, ?Autauga counties) Virginia. BTY, what/where is LI? Lana Floyd James S.
