(this obit was in the Pomona, Kansas Enterprise May 16, 1902). (From the Pomona Republican May 14, 1902) The funeral of Jesse Brown was held yesterday and the remains were intered in the Dunkard cemetery. Jesse Brown was born in North Carolina. His parents are unknown but from the 1880 Franklin County Kansas Census His Parents were both born in north Carolina also. He had 3 Sons and 2 daughters that I know of the first born in Indiana in 1857. The second born in Illinois in 1858. The other 3 born back in Indiana between 1860 and 1864. He is believed to have been married 3 times. 1st to Sylvia or Sylvinia Walker who died before 1860. The second wife was Delilia Kellogg. He came to Franklin County, Kansas by 1878 and the 1880 Census shows Him married to Sarah Jane. ----------------------------------------------------- Click here for Free Video!! http://www.gohip.com/free_video/ ==== BRETHREN Mailing List ==== 2 --------------------------------------------- This is the Brethren Genealogy and History Network we are sponsored by The Fellowship Of Brethren Genealogists You are invited to join the membership of FOBG For further information e-mail McAdams@udayton.edu ---------------------
I am not part of the Boone/Brown line, but had a couple of thoughts on possible research. I'll bet Daniel Boone's history has been done and put in print somewhere; perhaps if you could find some of that information, it would help with some of your line as well. Have you tried a search on Daniel Boone? Also, for those of you who had ancestors living into the mid 1900s, check out the Social Security Death Index, it might be of help in finding a location especially. Not everyone registered in the early days of social security so the list might or might not be of help. I know it's posted at www.ancestry.com, am not sure if it's on rootsweb, but think they have connecting links between the pages. Lana in Alabama, USA

Can anyone help me with the parents of my great great grandmother? Virginia Francis (Jennie) Brown b: Oct 1, 1852 Ky d: Sept 17, 1943 Slate Springs Ms Married Isaac Buford Clark Any help will be appreciated Thanks Kay Sugg Best
So many of us are struggling to find connections to our Brown ancestors , especially in the years before vital statistics were required, and the early census records. Even though we may know where they lived , and find other Browns living near by, determining their relationship is next to impossible...and the popularity of names such as William, James . John, etc makes it even more difficult Do any of you have Browns who were living in Spartanburg Co SC , who migrated to Henry Co TN after 1820 ? These are names from the 1810 Spartanburg Co SC census and the 1830 census from Henry Co TN , which indicate they may be from the same families. 1810 Spartanburg Co SC 1830 Henry Co TN Lewis 183 William 3 John 184 Henry 3 Richard 185 John 3 William 186 James 4 Jessee 189 Richard 4 Henry 197 William 4 James 201 Lewis 5 Jessee 9 Of course I realize that these are just common Brown names, but it does suggest the possiblility that it is more than a coincidence.Among some old notes I found some correspondence dated 1933, from a grandson of Lewis Brown who beleived Lewis and Henry were brothers. Can anyone verify this ? Surely these are someone's ancestors ! If you can identify with any of these names and locations, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, perhaps we can help each other by sharing what we do know. Marietta Sexton

I am interested in any information on Spencer Brown and wife Nancy Welch. Spencer was born in the late 1700's in Georgia and later lived and raised his family in Tennessee. I believe he had a son named Benjamin. Thanks.
Happy Sunday ! I have posted this before to different lists and forums .....so if you have seen it , please, just delete. I thought I'd try again in the New Year. Thanks , Pat ~~~~~~~~~~ I have a tangled mess of Boones and Browns, not sure exactly if they all come from the same family . I will start with my 3rd GGF Richmond Pearson Boone. Richmond Pearson Boone b in Barren co KY 1803, said to have been a son of John Boon, who in turn was the son of Jonathan Boon, an older brother of Daniel Boone , frontiersman. Richmond married in KY, perhaps Edmundson co by 1825. A researcher , Dan Boone of Pleasanton, TX said his first wife was Jane Riley. The first I found on Richmond was in 1838 St. Francis co AR tax list. He went by the spelling Boon on that list and the 1840 St Francis co census, but on the 1850 same county census, he had added an E. Dan Boone said he married a Millie Brown in the mid 1840's in St Francis co. Millie being born in NC ca 1806. I have searched the census for 1840 St Francis co and I found only one Brown, Ruffin 30- 40 yrs of age with three children (all males), no wife. Perhaps Ruffin was a brother to Millie. In 1851 the Boones went to Bell county TX, listed on that census in 1860, Williamson co TX census 1870 and Kendall co TX census for 1880. He died in 1887 Kendall co, but is buried beside Millie in the Boone-Hamlin cemetery, Youngsport, Bell co TX. William Carroll Boone son of Richmond married Caroline Brown, Bell co, TX Artemissa Glover, granddaughter of Richmond married Richard K. Brown, Bell co TX Mary Belle Boone, granddaughter of Richmond married .....Brown, lived at Floresville , Wilson co TX. I know that Richard K. and Caroline Brown were brother and sister. Was the unknown Brown another brother? Also, was there a connection from them to Millie Brown? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks, Pat in OK
Hi all Thought I would list who Im looking for again. I dont have alot of information :( Im in search of Harvey Lee Brown from Alabama. He married a Susie Jones from Texas and they lived in Parker County or Parker, Texas. They had atleast one son named Tom Lee Brown. Im unsure if his name was really Thomas or just plain Tom. All records I have so far just say Tom. Tom was born November 1, 1890 in Parker County or Parker, TX. I havent been able to establish if all this occurred in Parker County Texas or Parker, TX. I always come up empty. Tom eventually made his way up to Southeast Missouri and married Minnie Jewell (Bready) Hardin (1st married name) in Steele or Braggadocia, Missouri. He had 3 children with her: Wanda Lee Brown, Peggy Sue Brown, dob 4-22-1948, and Harvey Lee Brown, dob 4-25-1946, this is my father. One of his sisters says they have a sister living in Texas but doesnt recall her name, so I guess Tom Lee Brown was married in Texas and had children before moving to Missouri. Tom Lee Brown died August 21, 1949, when my father was 3 years old. If anyone has information on this line, please email me. Thanks Angie Ricketts revncaer@brightok.net
