Hi Barbara, Thanks for the information. I was the one inquiring about Originall Brown. I haven't checked out the data you gave me yet but it looks excellent. I really appreciate your help. Gordon Reid Hale Grand Prairie, Texas
I found William and Letitia (Lottie, Lettie) LEACH, BROWN on the 1892 Saratoga County Census. They are living with her father and step mother. William was 25 and Letitia was 23 living with her father Charles Leach in the third election district Saratoga, Saratoga County I would like to know descendants of William and Letitia, if any. I hope someone can be of assistance to me. Sharon
I am looking for any information regarding the following family. John Soloman Brown (b. abt. 1795 in NC) married Temperance "Tempe" maiden name Unknown. They had the following children: John Soloman, Jr. (b. abt. 1826 in NC), James (b. abt. 1831 in NC) and Margaret (b. abt. 1833 in NC). They appear in Union County, GA by September, 1843 where John Jr. marries Sarah Twiggs. They have three children: Susannah, Burton and Alford. I believe John dies by 1870 and Sarah is living with Francis and Ester Self in Union Co. James Brown marries Elizabeth ??? sometime before 1855 and settles in Fannin County. They have the following children: Martha, Mary, Temperance, Charley, Rachael, James, Elizabeth, Ann and Adaline. In 1870, in Fannin County, John Brown, Sr. is remarried to Evarilla Pitman and lives next door to Charles Brown and wife, Adoline. Next door to them is James and family. Possibly Charles is also a child of John Soloman Sr. and Temperance. I am trying to find anyone who ties to this family. Would like to find out about John Jr. and Sarah's children Susannah and Burton especially. Alford the youngest, married in Fannin County and resided their until moving to Paulding County around 1900. Any additional information would be appreciated.
Sorry about that! I got into the site from another location and didn't test it before I sent my previous message. Try this one, I tested it and it should work; otherwise I'll have to provide you the convuluted path I took when I found it! Let me know one way or another. Good luck and happy hunting to all of my Brown com-patriots. Barb http://business.gorge.net/aff/
Hi Listers, I'm trying to learn more about Madison Sloan Brown. We believe he was born ca. 1875, to James Madison Brown and Margaret Jeanne Black. We also believe that he married Henrie Mae Pirtle on 25 May 1899, and that Henrie Mae was born 5 Nov 1876, in Lamar Co., TX. One of the children of Madison and Henrie Mae was a son, Dahl Pirtle Brown, Sr., who was living in Oklahoma City in 1963. I'd specifically like to learn about Madison's siblings and children, and, of course, about his ancestry. The general locale would be MO, AR, OK, and TX. I've done quite a lot of census searching for this family, without much luck. If this rings a bell with any of you, I'd be very grateful for a message. Rick Sherman, Kensington, CA

Hi, I recently ran across a data base which lists the first settlers coming to this country in the 1600's. I remember that at one time, recently, someone sent a message to this board concerning "Original" Brown. I don't have the email now, but am hoping I can get this information to the right person: The url is http://business.gorge.net/dbindex.htm There are 2 "Original" Browns listed: BROWN Original EVENT-1698 VA/MD HAROLD52 BROWN Original 1648-1698 Westmoreland 1-009V Capt. County, VA I think that the last column is the code for the file; but there are instructions on this web page for contacting the submitter. I also remember a lady who has been looking for a Lydia Brown, and there are several Lydias including in this data base: BROWN Lydia 1641-1674 Simsbury CT 1-114 BROWN Lydia d1663 Rehoboth MA 1-010 I hope that this helps the people who were looking for these particular Browns. Good Luck, all. Barbara Brown Hootman
To all Brown Family Researchers: I'm always looking for any information I can get on the following: Lorenzo Brown b. 12 September 1807 Boston, MA. m. Clarissa Ann Nye 1845. Had children: George Lyman Brown, Julia A. Brown, 1846, 1847. then Eugene L. Brown and Ellen Brown (my great grandmother) most of these children b. in Eden, Erie, N.Y. Ellen m. Sidney G. Hickok 15 September 1872 and they had children: Bert Lorenzo b. 3 April 1876, Claude Clifford b. 16 January 1878, Nettie Pearl (my grandmother) b.4 November 1879. Lorenzo b. 12 September 1807 had parents: James Brown and Nancy Bryant; another family that I have little data on. Hope some one on this list can make a connection from this............Regards, John Claude Gummoe
Hi to Brown Listers and Barbara: I don't remember the listing about someone looking for a Lydia BROWN/BROWNE, but I have at least a dozen just in my own family data base. If anyone can tell me just what "Lydia" they are looking for, I'll give my file a look. These are mostly 16 and 17 hundreds Lydia's and mostly New England. Bye and Regards...........John Claude Gummoe, great grandson of Ellen Brown b. Eden, Erie, N.Y. wife of Sidney G. Hickok.
Trying to find descendants of the above families who settled into the Florida area starting about 1870. Counties I have found references to these families include Sumter, Pasco, Polk, Hernando and Madison. If you find any of your family names here, please contact me so we can swap info. Pearson Brown & wife Elizabeth were both born about 1800 and are found in the Worth County AREA of Georgia in census reports from the early 1800s to 1860, along with their children Sarah Ann, Green, Thomas E.W., Mary and Pearson D. these children were born from about 1840-1850. Pearson D. Brown marr Elizabeth Wheelus in 1858 and was later killed in the civil war in 1861. Green M. Brown marr Tobitha Goff in GA in 1863. Green died if Fl in 1885 and Tobitha remarried to a John Alexander. Green and Tobitha Brown had the following children: Martha J., John Brown, Sarah E. Brown, Charlie S., Mary F., Tobith, and W.A. Mary F. Brown marr Robert M. Bankston in Pasco in 1893. Charlie S. Brown marr Berzelia McDaniel in 1894 in FL. John Brown marr Mamie Angela Page in Pasco in 1874. Mamie was the daughter of Marion Washington Page and Mary Elizabeth Thomas. Because Marion and his siblings were also long time residents of FL, I am also listing their names. Marion Washington Page's siblings were Nancy, Winnie, Josiah, John, Louisa, Angelina, Lorina, Ephraim E. (marr Martha C. Wadsworth), Jackson Jeremiah, Solomon Hardy (marr Elinder Hall Watson & Elizabeth Jane Davidson) and Mary M who married Jonathan Watson in Polk in 1871. Marion Washington Page's children were Enoch M. (marr Mary V. Blitch), John G., Lenora (marr John Alexander Morgan), Mamie Angela, Joseph Tilden, A.J. Page, George Washington (marr Mabel Prudence Phelps), Laura and Tom W. John Brown & Mamie Angela Page had the following children in FL. Mamie (marr John Byrd), Martin Washington, Pascal Powell, Walter Perry, William Andrew (marr Artie Crum & Thelma Blanche Howard), John Archie and Charles Lee. Almost all the people listed here, lived, raised a family and died in the above areas of FL. Please contact me if you have any knowledge of these families, or if you would like more information. Thanks. Bill Brown
I am looking for any information available on my paternal grandmother. She was born Malissa Grace Brown. And, married Robert Wray Rogers in 1926. Probably in Texas. After his death, she remarried to an unknown. That's all I know, which is certainly not much to go on. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy your day, BW@ mailto:aasgeier@ktc.com http://ktcinet.com/aavgenpg/index.htm http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=aasgeier
Hi There, I belong to MANY, MANY e-mail lists. I get about 200 pieces of mail a day. This morning my mother detected the KAK worm in mail I sent to her. I check my files and there the nasty thing was. I had no clue, except that I had been getting some odd errors when I turned on the computer each day. I had just been monkeying around with files, so I figured I'd goofed something up. The KAK file was dated 3 days ago. I don't know if that is the date it was sent or when it was opened or when it began it's nasty business in my e-mail. I had sent my folks e-mail yesterday, but they don't think their protector found anything. I have had to reboot my entire system. It's taken me the entire day to save my files and it will take me much of tomorrow to get things back to normal. I just wanted you to know that I picked this worm up somewhere. You might want to check for files that are called KAK. You don't have to open an attachment to get this bug. It just happens and you don't even know it. I purchased a virus detector BEFORE I came back on. I got new mail and the nasty virus was on two pieces of new mail. I'm glad I bought the protector, or I'd have it again! Sincerely, Sandie

I have permission from Mary to send this to the Brown list; hope it is of help to someone. From: MaryHul@aol.com (Mary Hulsey) Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 08:21:30 EST Will of Joseph Brown--excerpts: ...Of Broad Mouth Creek, Pendleton District, planter, aged 78 years or thereabouts. Also land where Thomas Crow formerly lived on south fork of Broad Mouth. Son James to have 140 acres on south fork Broad Mouth were he now lives and part of Crow land. Daughter Fanny Lester, negro girls Suck and Kate. At marriages, already had provided for other children William, Hugh, Joseph (deceased), Margaret wife of Benjamin Starritt, Violet wife of William Reed, Elizabeth wife of James Reese, Mary wife of James Duff, Jane wife of John Hall, and Fanny wife of Moses Lester. Jemimah, the widow of Joseph. Executors, sons Hugh and David, and friend, neighbor Robert Telford. 17 Jan 1810. Wit: Aaron Broyles, Benjamin Bowen, James Harkin." 1800 Pendleton South Carolina USA census--p. 33, Joseph Brown 12011-30010-00. Note: This Joseph Brown of the will was husband of a Mary Porter and was the father of the Joseph Brown, Jr. who married Jemima Broyles and had, among others, a son named Mackey Brown, b. 1797. Mackey married a woman named Salley Rice and appears on the 1830 Pickens County, SC census, the 1840 Union County, GA, later moved to Lumpkin Co., GA and finally was in 1870 Cherokee County, GA before he died 1874 at Canton, Cherokee County, GA. Mackey Brown was the father of Joseph Emerson Brown, who served as Governor of Georgia during the Civil War and later as a senator. The James Brown, identified as a son in the above Joseph Brown will, is also shown by the will to have had a brother-in-law named Benjamin Starritt. Thus, I believe the below deed pertains to that same James Brown. Pendleton. 9 Jul 1791 Benjamin Starritt to William Hall for 100 pounds, 153 acres in Washington District, on north fork Broadmouth Creek, waters Saluda, part of tract granted William Brown 5 Jun 1786, containing 306 acres.
