    1. [BROWN] John Lewis Brown-Tx.to Ar.-about 1880
    2. John Hartley
    3. All I know about him is that he was from Texas, moved to Izard Co.,Ar.around 1880,married Mary Damron, had a daughter,Lee Etta b.8-12-1882,then disappeared. They don't think he ran off(he didn't take anything with him)but that he was killed by bushwackers. It's a long shot but I'm interested in any John Lewis Brown from Texas who moved to Arkansas about this time. I don't believe he is related to other Browns in Izard Co.,Ar. 3. Congratulations Frank! The correct date of birth is Oct. 27, 1856 obtained by using the Date Calculator in the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) program, which is easier than your method. The PAF genealogical program is available for free by downloading it from the LDS website. http://familysearch.com/ George W. I use the 8870 formula found in Everton's Genealogical Helper some years back. Take the Date of death (see example) and subtract the age at death. From that total subtract 8870 to get birth date. Example: Date of Death, yyyymmdd 18890809 Age of death, yrsmoda 320913 Sutract from above Total 18569896 Subtract 8870 Birth date 18561028 yyyymmdd Oct. 28, 1856 Sunlight bright overcomes night. 1. [BROWN] Looking for John Brown
    2. Looking for John Brown is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but I decided to just keep posting and looking until I can uncover something. Here goes: John Soloman Brown, Sr. born abt. 1797 in North Carolina. He married a Temperance ??? probably in North Carolina. She was born there abt. 1793. They had atleast the following children: Charles born abt. 1820, John Soloman, Jr. born abt 1826, James born abt. 1831 and Margaret born abt. 1833, all in North Carolina. By 1842 the families are in Union County, GA. John Soloman Brown, Jr. marries Sarah Twiggs in 1843, Charles Brown marries Ann Twiggs in 1842. The majority of the family stays in Fannin County. I would like help in finding out more about John Soloman Brown, Sr. and where he and Temperance married. He remarries in 1869 in Fannin County, GA to an Evarilla (Riller) Pitman. I can find, Charles, John Sr. and James through the 1870 Fannin County Census. Not sure if John Brown, Jr. died in the Civil War or sometime later, I can find Sarah Twiggs Brown through 1880 in Union Co., GA. Any small piece of information would be greatly appreciated. 1. [BROWN] new to list
    2. Allen
    3. Hi! I'm new to the list. I'm looking for the ancestors of Kemp Brown who was from England, unfortunately I know not where. He married Polly Anderson from Pennsylvania. They were the parents of Mary Jane Brown born 25 Dec. 1862. Mary Jane married Peter A. Sinift (born 6 Sept. 1859)30 Dec. 1884, in Paulding, Ohio, and they were the parents of Hazel, Joy, Nelson. Lloyd, and Zelard Goodman Sinift who was my grandfather. While I don't really know where in England Kemp came from, I do know that Mary Jane his daughter always insisted that she owned property in Wales. Realize this isn't much information, but if it rings any bells I sure would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, JoAnn

    3. Hello Browns. I am having very little luck chasing down my Brown family. The earliest ancestor I know about is Abraham Brown, born abt. 1818 in Bath County, Ky. He married Elizabeth Hensey, and in 1850 they were living in Nicholas County, Ky. He is listed as a tailor. At that time they had one child, Sarah Jane. Later several other children were born in Nicholas County. Among them were Cyrus and James Alison. James is my great grandfather. Abraham assisted with the Underground Railroad, and because of that his family had to flee to his brother or uncle Daniel Brown in Claremont County, Ohio. Before 1870 they moved to Rush County, Indiana, where they settled on a farm near Milroy. If there is anyone who can help me with this family I would really be grateful. Thanks. --- Cathy Field --- cathyfield1@earthlink.net
