He married Rachel Clouse and I have lots of informantion about her family. William F. Brown, b March 30, 1817 in Unicoi County Tennessee. He married Rachel Clouse on Feb 3, 1840. Rachel was from Marshall, North Carolina. Her date of death was Jan 7, 1906. William died Sept. 21, 1908 and he and Rachel are buried in the Clear Branch Baptist Church in Unicoi County, TN. William and Rachel had 6 children: 1. Thomas Brown - Thomas served in the Civil War. He joined in 1862 and was in the 60th Tenn Infantry Regiment, also called the 79th Tenn Infantry Regiment. After the war he returned home to Washington County, TN but in 1873 he moved to Fayette County in West TN. He provided information about his life that is recorded in The Tennesee Civil War Veterans Questionnaires, Volume 1. He mentions his mother's parents, but does not record anything about his paternal grandparents. 2. William Frank Brown. Married Mallie Tinker 3. Catherine Brown. Married George Tomkins 4. Margaret Brown. Married John Tilson 5. Martha Jane Brown. Maried Elijah Tilson 6. John Brown b. March 14, 1853 - My ggrandfather. John married Rachel Mandosa Chandler and they had 12 children. I am looking for descendants of JOSHUA BROWN in hopes of confirming my "hypothesis" of his descendants as follows: 1. Joshua Brown, son of George and MARY (STEVENSON) BROWN, was born abt 1748 in MD, and died Abt 17 Sep 1832 in ,Frederick Co., MD. He may be the same Joshua Brown who married Susanna 15 Aug 1771 at St. John & George, Baltimore Co., MD. All indications are that he lived at "Brown's Delight" on Cobbs Branch of Little Pipe Creek, Westminster district, (later referred to as "Brown's Plague"), Frederick Co., on property which he inherited from his father's estate. Possible children of Joshua Brown are: i.Samuel W. Brown, born 14 Apr 1774 in ,Frederick,MD; died 25 Jun 1840 in Franklin Twp, Columbiana, OH (66y, 2m, 11d). He married Susannah Bef. 1798 in ,Frederick,MD; born Bet. 1775 - 1776 in ,,MD; died 1859 in Franklin Twp, Columbiana, OH (age badly worn). Samuel and Susannah settled on Range 4 Town 14 Section 10 of Franklin Twp, Columbiana Co., Ohio, in 1807. ii.Oliver Brown, born Abt 1774 in ,Frederick,MD. iii.Joshua Brown, Jr., born Abt 1777 in ,Frederick,MD. iv.Daughter Brown, born Bef. 1790 in ,Frederick,MD. v.Daughter Brown, born Bef. 1790 in ,Frederick,MD. vi.Daughter Brown, born Bef. 1790 in ,Frederick,MD. What I am looking for is listed below: 1. Marriage record for JOSHUA Brown and SUSANNA on 15 Aug 1771 in St. John & George, Baltimore Co., MD. I need to know her maiden name. 2. A Will for JOSHUA Brown who died Abt 17 Sep 1832 in ,Frederick Co.,MD. If he left a Will, I need to know the Liber and page and the address of where to send for a copy of the Will. 3. A marriage record for SAMUEL W. BROWN to SUSANNAH, before 1798, Frederick Co., MD. I need to know her maiden name, etc. 4. SAMUEL W. and SUSANNAH's first three children were born in Frederick Co.: MARIA, b. 1798; a daughter (name unknown) born before 1800; JOSHUA b. 8 Jul 1800; and SARAH b. 21-DEC-1802. If baptism records exist, they would be valuable to my research. 5. From the 1790 Census record, it is believed that JOSHUABrown had 3 sons under 16 and 3 daughters. A JOSHUA BROWN and SUSANNA had two sons (per LDS-IGI files): Oliver Brown, born Abt 1774 in ,Frederick,MD; and Joshua Brown, born Abt 1777 in ,Frederick,MD. If baptism records exist for any of JOSHUA and SUSANNA's children, they would be valuable to my research (especially SAMUEL W.). Although I don't have any of the following Family Tree Maker CDs, my index shows the following information and the CD number. If any of you have any of these CD's, I would really appreciate a lookup: Marriages: Selected Counties of MD, NC, VA 1624-1915 #4, SUSANNA Brown; OLIVER Brown; JOSHUA Brown; SAMUEL Brown; SAMUEL W. Brown Maryland Marriage Index 1655-1850 #224: JOSHUA Brown; SAMUEL Brown Maryland Wills and Probates #206 - JOSHUA Brown; SUSANNA Brown; SAMUEL Brown; MARIA Brown; SARAH Brown; JONATHAN Brown. Maryland & Delaware Church Records #178 - JOSHUA Brown; SUSANNA Brown; SAMUEL Brown; MARIA Brown; SARAH Brown; JONATHAN Brown. Maryland Marriages & Genealogies 1634-1820 #195: JOSHUA Brown; SUSANNA Brown; SAMUEL Brown Colonial Families of Maryland #184: SUSANNA Brown; OLIVER Brown; SAMUEL Brown; MARIA Brown; SARAH Brown. Thank you in advance for any assistance and/or guidance you can provide. Sincerely, Jeanne E. (Brown) Killick better known as Jeannie-ology : )

It could be done very easily in Photoshop. That is a pretty expensive package though. I believe they may have a lite version of it. Check it out at http://www.adobe.com/ The idea is that you place different pictures on different layers and then adjust the size and transparency. A word of caution though. Photoshop is not for the casual user. It is a complex package that is geared towards graphic design professionals. There may be other, easier to use, packages out there. Excellent question. ----- Original Message ----- From: <MHoltz1119@aol.com> To: <BROWN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 26, 2001 3:45 PM Subject: [BROWN] pictures > does anyone know if there is a program where you can over lap pictures and > compare face features? or if there is some other way to do this ? > > thank you > marie holtz > > ______________________________ ----- Original Message ----- From: <BROWN-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <BROWN-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 27, 2001 10:21 AM Subject: BROWN-D Digest V01 #82

James Brown, born 1738 in North Carolina, married about 1811, Hester Ann Helms of Maryland. My gg grandparents moved in June 1813 to Shelby county , Kentucky long enough to put in a crop. The next move was to Jefferson county, Indiana for two years. James Brown relinquished land in Section #12 in Switzerland county, Indiana on 9-4-1817. His next land was 80 acres in Fall Creek Township, Hamilton County, Indiana on August 5, 1827. They lived in the Fortville, Indiana the rest of their lives. Hester died about 1813, James about 1831. (We haven't located their burial sites so we don"t know exact dates of death.) In the 1830 census they had five sons: Henderson (my great grandfather), John, Isaac, and Jobe; four daughters: Polly, Rachel, Nancy and Elizabeth. My two "brick walls" are the burial sites of James and Hester Ann Brown and who are the real parents of James Brown born about 1787. Henderson married Sarah Hoagland 10-5-1831 in Hamilton county, Indiana. They had nine children; JAMES 1834, MARGARET 1836, William 1839, Andrew 1842, Minney 1845, Catharine 1849, Hiram (my grandfather) 1851, Nancy 1853 and Mary died young. Henderson was born in McMinn county, Tennessee in December 1812. Can any one help with my two brick walls? Russell M. Brown

Does anyone have info on the Dr. Simeon Brown line. He is of the Richard Brown of Newbury, Mass line. Simeon's wife was Hannah Young, daughter of Henry and Ruth (Morrill) Young. I am particularly interested in his son, Joseph, who married a Priscilla. Joseph was born 1 Jul 1735 in Kingston, NH. He moved back to Salisbury, Mass. I am wondering if this Priscilla could be Priscilla Gage of Bradford, MA. Thank you in advance, Shari Kelley Worrell Researching Essex County, Ma Brick Walls: Bailey, Brown, Kelley, Perkins, Wilson
