    1. Re: [BROWN] Living people
    2. B. Benware Burt
    3. Don, I agree with being careful about sharing. It has always been my natural impulse to want to share what I've found with others. However, after sharing with a distant cousin part (and thankfully only a small part) of the research that had taken me 7 years and much time and expense to find, he showed up at the next family reunion to proudly show me (not the brightest bulb, to say the least!) how he had copyrighted and published _my_ efforts with his name on it. Now I find he has also put this information, including our son's name and birth date, on the web...I believe at Family Tree Maker. (Is that a site?) I was livid, for the very reason expressed, possible identity theft. I would never post my private information on the web and certainly not my minor son's! I may follow your lead and get in touch and tell him to remove it. In your case you might want to contact the listmaster@rootsweb.com and demand this private information be removed if the individual who put it there refuses to do so. It isn't genealogical etiquette to publish private information on living people and certainly not in such a worldwide medium. That's my 2 cents. 3. If it is without their knowledge, I agree we shouldn't. I have run into an even worse case -- there is a Juanita Blankenship <jjjb@comwares.net> who somehow got hold of a part of my research, and has put all my kids and grandkids on rootsweb.com, without my permission. I have asked her repeatedly to take them off, but she refuses. And to top it off, she accuses me of being ashamed of my kids and grandkids if I don't want her to put them on rootsweb.com. So, we also have to be careful who we share our research with. 2. Chancelee March
    3. I am looking for Browns in the Daviess, Harrison, and Gentry County areas. I have a Thomas H. Brown born about 1836 in England. He married Nancy Rowhuff of Harrison County, MO. They soon moved to Fremont County, IA. I do not know when Thomas came to the states...wether it was when he was young and came w/ his parents of was he older and came w/ brothers or by himself. But, he would have had to come after 1836ish. Thomas and Nancy were married about 1862ish? Possibly in Harrison County area. Does anyone know who Thomas may have descended from? Thanks for your help. Chancelee

    1. [BROWN] Browns in Muskingum/Licking Co, OH
    2. James & Caroline Shultz
    3. I've been working on a theory and am wondering if there is another Brown descendant working this line: Melissa Sliger posted this on Genforum: Adam Clark Brown bn 13 Jan 1847, Brownsville, OH, married Fannie Dodd on 11 Mar 1873 Muskingum Co, OH They had the following children: John Edward Brown Joseph Fate Brown George Durban Brown Julie Christina Brown Fred Brown Griffith E. C. Brown In the LDS family search site, I found the Marriage record for Adam Clark Brown and Mary F. Dodd, same date, film # 0865143, Ohio Probate Court for Muskingum County. So that matches. I have a John Edward Brown in my database that would be born about the time period of this John Edward Brown. He married Anna Belle Fielding from Columbus, OH. They ended up living in Wheeling WV. Their children were: John Edward Brown, Jr, 1897-1982 Robert F. Brown, 1900 - ? Stewart Singleton Brown, 1907-1980 Anna Belle Fielding is the sister to my great grandmother, Grace Katherine Fielding. The Brown cousins that I am in contact with do not know their Brown history other than the above. There is another John E. Brown listed in the IGI at LDS born 20 Oct 1873 to John Brown and Lena Robinson, in Muskingum County, OH. Anybody have any clues on these John Browns??? Not an easy name to search! Thanks for any help! Caroline
