    1. [BROWN] BROWN site
    2. Suzanne Rosenbaum
    3. Found this site and thought I would pass it along. It's a list of Pensioner's in Tennessee and also lists widows names, county of residence at the time of the application, and units served with. My Brown's weren't listed, but maybe yours are. Hope it helps someone. 1. [BROWN] Sarah Collins Beckley, b. c. 1788
    2. Michael S. Beckley
    3. This lady is my third great grandmother, married to Jonathan Beckley sometime between 1807 and 1812, probably between 1810 and 1811. They were residing in Canaan Twp, Litchfield County, Connecticut by 1814, from wence they left then for Athens County, Ohio. Looking at the Barbour Colection, there are two women of the correct age to be this lady. One was the daughter of Joseph Collins and Grace Brown, born in Somers, Tolland County, Ct., listed as Sarah The other listed as Sally, as she subsequently signed her name on legal documents in Ohio, was born to Nathaniel Collins and Rachel Walling of Barkhamsted in Litchfield County. ... These choices of course assume that no one else moved to the area to be a candidate. Sally and Jonathan had two children while still in Connecticut, H. Nelson and Charlotte. Does any of this look familiar to anyone. You can reach me at msb@core.com, Thanks, Mike Beckley

    1. [BROWN] William Brown of Squirrel Hill
    2. Tom or Donna
    3. Can anyone help me? I'm wanting more info on this Brown familyl Browns moved from Squirrel Hill (Now the city of Pittsburgh) in 1819. Wm Brown of Patton Twp sold land 26 Mar 1861 to Peter Linhart who was married to his eldest daughter, Margaret (Allegheny Co Deeds pg 592-593). He reserved the right to fruit in the orchard and the house he lived in, during the life of he and his wife. Bought from Ephraim James Jordan a tract of land directly across Thompson's Run from the Linhart land. Area taken over by Patton Twp in 1849. There was one child in the family when Brown went into service in the war of 1812 and served 3 months. He came back alive but his brother, Alexander, was killed in a skirmish at Harper's Ferry. Wm Brown's mother's maiden name was Evelyn Hively. There were 10 children in the Hively family, which was English but they had lived in New York City before coming here. After selling their New York property, they drove west in a covered wagon with a 6 horse team and a tea kettle full of gold.
