Can anybody tell me where I can find the ancestors, James Brown I who died in 1805 and James Brown II and their families lived in Elkville (Wilkes County), North Carolina and where they were buried? I want to find the locations next February. Happy New Year to Everybody.
Try to find a copy of the book "Log Cabin Families" by Royall Hardin. It is available in a lot of genealogy libraries. It documents the Browns and Sparks families of Wilkes County NC. I spoke with Royall prior to his death and he was a font of knowledge. I have ties to those families myself. Happy Hunting! I am looking for help in finding the parents of either of my ggggrandparents, Thomas Brown b. about 1820 in Lincoln Ky and married Telitha Curry Morris in 1842.
Friends, fellow searchers, family As I take a pause from the festivities of today, I wish you all the happiness and success that you all desire, May the good lord whom ever you follow bless you and yours. May the coming years bring many new exciting branches to your trees, may you find who it is in that picture with Aunt Bertie since it isn't uncle John ;-) May you find that missing document that proves that you belong to royalty. May we all help each other to the best of our abilities. May you fix that blow up that happened so many years ago and you can't figure what it was about. Bless each and every one of you and have a happy new year. with much respect Keith William Brown

Hi Dave, I read your BROWN Family Reunion notice with interest. How do your BROWN and GILLESPIE families tie together? Also where do they come from. The reason I am asking is that my direct BROWN line is from Abel BROWN who married Lydia STUCKEY. And several of his descendants married into the GILLESPIE. Abel came to Belmont co., Ohio around 1805 as he is listed in the tax list. He came from Maryland with he was born 1768. Some of their children were born in Fort Henry, Ohio co., (W) Virginia, the rest were born in Belmont co., Ohio. George

Hello All, Just wanted to send a reminder so that you can mark your calendars. Hope that everyone is having a SAFE Holiday Season. Be Merry and Happy! Our ancestors used to have very large reunions in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana. From the time that David Hoover founded Richmond, Wayne Co., Indiana in 1806, his father Andrew Hoover along with other family members held very large family reunions. Now it is our turn. My sister Marcia and I are organizing the event. We have reserved a small building (with tables, chairs, and power) and a picnic pavilion, located in Glen Miller Park. Bring your laptops and exchange data with others. We will also have a computer, printer and scanner. Since we are opening this up to anyone, but in particular the following surnames: SLOAN, BROWN, HOOVER, DILL, GILLESPIE, MURPHY, DEARDORFF, CASKEY, and BUSH, we are hoping to have a good turn out. Their will be a "bring your own food" picnic at the pavilion. There is both a Meijer and Wal-Mart’s deli where picnic style food may be purchased. There is an outdoor grill pit and we will provide the charcoal. Paper ware, flatware, bottled water, pop and coffee will be provided. Please RSVP so that we have a headcount for planning purposes. WHO: Anyone WHAT: Family Reunion – See names above. WHEN: 9 June 2007 9 AM to 4 PM WHERE: Glen Miller Park, Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana WHY: To have fun, meet cousins, and exchange genealogy information Need additional information or to RSVP please contact Dave Sloan [email protected] 719-391-0590.
