Seeking anyone who might remember a young fair, red head named Catherine Brown who worked at a cafe/restaurant in Carthage MO in 1947. She was married for a time (1946-1947) to an Edward Alexander and divorced early 1948, and married Arthur Bray, Jr. Seeking ANY information on her, or Edward Alexander. I am still attempting to link these Osborns with my g2 grandfather Daniel P. Osborn of Newton County, MO. I would be interested in who you have identified as siblings to William Wiley Osborn and do you know where he is buried. I believe that William Wiley's father was William Osborn b. 1780 in VA and that the elder William died in Jasper County between 1850-1860. I have read that the elder is buried (unmarked) in a neglected and abandoned cemetery in Jasper County. The name of the cemetery escapes me at the moment but I can look it up if you would like to know. I found the mention in Colleen Belk's transcriptions of the Jasper County Cemeteries. Now that I think about it I believe that the name is/was Sidenstrecker. It is listed on the USGenWeb site for Jasper County, MO. Anything that you know about this family prior to their settlement in southwest MO would be appreciated. I know that they came to MO from SC via Middle TN. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
John Brown was born in Scotland. He married Mary Gemmil January 16, 1824 in Dundonald,Ayre, Scotland. She was born 1806 in Kilmarnock, A;yr. Scotland Child of John Brown and Mary Gemmil is: David Brown, b April 1831 Saltcoats, Scotland; d. August 221894, east Flamborough, Ontario, Canada He married (1) amelia J. Brown and two brothers John B. Brown and William Henry Brown. Somewhere I have a local map of Flambourough which shows where my Brown family lived and also shows the Kitchens farm location. I'll try and find it (I have boxes of research) The first listing is rather iffy, there seems to be two sets of John Brown & Mary Gemmil in the same time frame in Scotland....I don''t know if is an error in printing or perhaps two dfferent families reported them. However they were located in different villages.

I am looking only for Browns in British Columbia, Ontario and Scotland.
Hi, Do any of those tie in with Braxton or Valentine Brown? My uncle thinks they were brothers, as grandma's line was Valentine, but she spoke of an Uncle Braxton. Hi Doug, have you submitted your own DNA to the BROWN DNA study? I am very interested in your New Brunswick connections. My BROWN people came also from England, to Maine & Vermont, and then during the Am.Rev.War, remaining loyal to George III, went to New Brunswick & Nova Scotia. My brick wall in Henry A. Brown, born 1829, came to Ontario by 1850. Are you still in New Brunswick? My brother Blake Donald Brown gave his DNA for the study. If you go to www.ysearch.org and look for User ID #AA3TZ, you will see his results. I'm still checking, especially with the new members, to see if they happen to have a Harvey Harrison Brown, b. 1860 somewhere in Kentucky, d. 1955 or 1956 in Tulsa, OK... thanks! _Ray_

Hello, I am a female descendant of a large Brown family. My grandmother was Mary Idaho Brown and she was born in Kootenai County, Idaho. I have no contact with any MALE member of my Brown family. I would LOVE to know of a male Brown or any Brown genealogy cousins to correspond with and perhaps help with the DNA study. My earliest Brown is one of the three James Browns in Nelson/Hardin/LaRue Counties, Kentucky. He was there as early as 1785ish. He had 9 known children, one of which was my direct ancestor - Joseph Brown, b. 1785 in Virginia (or perhaps Kentucky before it was a state?). Joseph moved to Spencer County, Indiana, then Porter County, Indiana, where he died. His son, Daniel Clinton Brown (also my direct ancestor) moved to Lincoln County, Nebraska where he died. His son and my direct ancestor, Joseph Manuel Brown moved to Kootenai County, Idaho. I know he had two sons, William Gilbert and Daniel Clinton, who moved to Spokane, Washington, where my grandmother's family also moved briefly before moving to California. Through research, I have found some other Brown relatives of Daniel Clinton Brown of Nebraska who moved to Oregon and Nevada. I believe others might have stayed in Nebraska. Some of the earliest members of the family probably stayed in the Hardin/LaRue Counties, Kentucky area. These Browns were tall, thin people with elongated (rather than roundish) heads. I have seen this characteristic in other Brown families. If there is a chance that you are related to my Browns, please contact me. Good morning Brown researchers and descendants! The Brown/Browne/Braun DNA Study now has results for 334 men, who fall (so far!) into some 197 unrelated, biologically distinct lines. This diversity of origins for the Brown surname continues to surprise, although most of us who have followed the DNA project should be accustomed to the phenomenon by now! The project's revised website now places our "matched" participants into 59 groups, which contain a total of 196 men. We believe there's better than a 50-50 chance that the members of any specific group share a common Brown ancestry within the "surname era," that is, since about 1400 AD. For many of the groups, moreover, we can be reasonably confident that their common Brown ancestors lived within the past 350 years or so. (In the meantime, another 138 project participants are still waiting for their first potentially significant matches.) Looking for information on the parents and siblings of Louisa June Brown, also known as Nellie P.A.L. Brown. Louisa was born in Tennessee, per 1850-1900 Census Records, between 1815 and 1828. The 1880 and 1900 Census Records also indicate that both her parents were born in Tennessee. Louisa was married twice. Here for marriage was to Zachariah Harrison, who was said to have been born in Clark County, Indiana. I have seen the marriage date listed at 14 February 1839, but do not know the source or what county. There are 30 Brown families listed in the 1840 Census Records for Jackson County, Indiana, and 14 Brown families listed for Clark County, Indiana. For possible siblings, the 1850 Census for Jackson County shows two Browns - James and Andrew - from Tennessee; while the 1850 Census for Clark County shows one Brown - James - from Tennessee. Louisa and Zachariah were listed in the 1850 and 1860 living in Carr Township, Jackson County, Indiana. They had seven children: Sarah "Sally" Ann, David A., Adaline, Lucy Jane, Mary Elizabeth, William R. and James Harrison. 1850 Carr Township, Jackson County, Indiana 63/65 Zachariah Harrison, 32, m, farmer, b Unknown Louisa, 28, f, b Tennessee Sally A., 10, f, b Indiana David N., 8, m, b Indiana Adaline, 5, f, b Indiana Lucy J., 3, f, b Indiana Elizabeth, 1, f, b Indiana Sarah Brown, 52, f, b North Carolina 1860 Carr Township, Jackson County, Indiana Post Office Sparksville 683/682 Zachariah Harrison, 48, m, farmer, 100, 75, b Virginia Louisa, 35, f, b Tennessee Sarah Ann, 21, f, b Indiana Ada Lucy Jane, 14, f, b Indiana Mary E., 10, f, b Indiana William R., 9, m, b Indiana James, 2, m, b Indiana Louisa's mother may be the Sarah Brown, born c1798 in North Carolina, who is living with them in the 1850 Census Record. Johnson, and they are listed in Carr Township, Jackson County Indiana in the 1870 (listed as Eliza) and 1880 Census Records, and in Indian Creek Township, Lawrence County, Indiana in the 1900 Census Records.
