What was her married name? Is she in any census under her married name which could show her parents' places of birth. I just looked at the 1870 census and there are over 1000 Andrew Browns. There is only one Mary Jane in Illinois with approx. right birth date and it is not her as parents are different. There are no Mary Jane Browns the right age frame in the 1870 census. If you could say what you do know about her a bit more it could help. Hi Sonja - how is Josiah born 1800 related to Joseph born 1825? Do you know they are ? Who is Josiah's father? Is there a living Brown ancestor from Josiah? You probably know from past conversations that my 4th Great Grandfather is a Josiah born 1741 CT - he had a son Josiah as well - another of my Josiah's sons perhaps 2 of them also lived in the Malta - Charlton area. Here is a list of the children of Josiah. I believe that Melvin lived in the Charlton area for a short period before 1810 - though I know his children and your names do not match. I think that it's possible that Nathan and perhaps another of the children also lived in your area - early in the 1800s. It's possible missing Nathan or Leman - had a children named after their father. Sonja, Do you know if the William b. Abt 1830 married an Elizabeth Ann CARTER on 3 Oct 1862? They eventually moved to Monroe Co, MI and I lost them. Elizabeth died 17 Sept 1862 in MI, so more than likely William remarried. I don't know when or where he was born or his parents. I do know that Elizabeth was the daughter of Chauncy and Huldah Isham CARTER of Cayuga Co, NY. Huldah Isham was born in Bristol (formerly known as Pockcock) VT. Her parents were David and Thankful Hooker Isham of VT. This whole group moved to MI before the 1850 census. I continue to search for Andrew, who was married to a Rachel. He was probably born in the early 1800s. He had a daughter, Mary Jane,b abt 1868, who died while her children were very small and not old enough to have any information about her. Any help appreciated. Wilma
I'm looking for the children of Arthur and Margret Brown that are listed on 1871 London,Middlesex Co,Ontario Ward#1.The children are Arthur,Albert,Alfred(teins),Ann Jane,Alexandra and Elizabeth E . Brown children all born in Ontario, Canada.
Robert where in CA are you located? It's tough to research from out here. Have you ever run across a Catherine (Nora) Brown born 1923-1925? Her family is supposed to have settled in Illinois. A Joseph Brown lived next door to him in Stillwater. I believe he had a brother, William living there also. Until I find all of his vital records for him and his siblings this is strictly conjecture on my part. There was a Joseph Brown, b. 1 Nov 1770 and d. 1 Mar 1851 in Saratoga Co. and his wife, Lucy Spencer, b. 12 Jun 1776 in Westbrook, Middlesec Co., Ct. and d. 10 Apr 1821 in Stillwater, Saratoga Co. Wright also had a first cousin by the same name. Wright's grandfather was Thomas so to have children by the same names is very likely. I presently am looking for a well-qualified genealogist to help me break through this brick wall of mine. Are you the Robert Brown who corresponded with me years ago, living in California? Another thing I noticed...your Thomas Brown was born in 1795...Joseph and Lucy Spencer were married about 1795 or 1796 in Stillwater. He could be their son. Where is he buried? Was your Joseph married to an Anna? Maybe Anna Barton? As I mentioned in an earlier email, the Joseph I have, and probably is the same as the one who was married to Lucy Spencer..as she died in 1821. He then married Anna and had Joseph A., b. 1825 and Sally. Perhaps your Elijah was their first born? Both Josephs were born in 1770 and lived in the same area...bet they are one and the same people. ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Robert, I do have a Joeph, b. 1770 (maybe the same one married to Lucy Spencer) who in 1850 lived in Malta with wife, Anna and had Sally, and Joseph A. Brown, b. 1825. I wonder if this is the same as your Joseph? This one was born in CT..and there is the possibility that Wright Brown could have had kids born in CT. I will go back and check those census reports. Good day Kathie & everybody! There's a search engine for the Brown DNA Study's website. See: _http://brownsociety.org/browndna/dna-brown.htm_ (http://brownsociety.org/browndna/dna-brown.htm) But unfortunately, the genealogies currently posted at our site don't cover many of the Brown families for whom we have tests. For that reason, we're currently working to increase the amount of "earliest known Brown ancestor" data at the site. This new information should be up in a month or so. In any case, you or any other Brown researcher is always welcome to join our mailing list and post queries there, even if you haven't yet located a Brown-surnamed male relative for testing.
