    2. Eleanor Prieskorn
    3. Deborah, this is great, I have read many reports but this seems to cover the train very well, every bit of information helps, now I do know that my William must have been born in Indiana, reason being there were children put on the train in Indiana, I was told they started about 1870's I am trying to see where they started the ride. One report was the far west of Indiana? I am not good at N E S W or even reading a map. I will save this link and read more later. Ellie I found some great suggestions for researching the orphan trains at http://iagenweb.org/iaorphans/ and http://www.orphantrainriders.com/. Good Luck, Debbie Holtzendorff <[email protected]>

    3. Hi Pat Do you have them on any census? I will be happy to send copies of the census record if you accept attachments. I am in Texas south Texas. Our Brown were VA, TN, AR and TX. also fought on the Confederate side my husband's gg grandfather died in the civil war at the time they were in AR. I found no others searching this particular family yet. Found what I believe to be you on Rootsweb world connect as it is the same line contact is Richard L. Rice it includes the Jones name. But poking around in PA might help if you had some idea as to what county they might have come from or any stories about other siblings or other relations. Let me know about the census record and will attempt to track them farther. 3. Looks like he was first raised by the Stanleys. I can send these census images to you. I want to thank you very much for tracking this family down, when I found this census William was the first one listed and I wondered then why. (nothing above him) That closed the door on that William Henry Brown, even though he was Born in 1868 just like mine, my William Henry Brown took the name of Bryant Sometime after the 1880 census, (living with the Bryant's) in 1900 he was living next door to Catherine Bryant and her children (4) but no Thomas F Bryant, later found his death (Thomas) in 1901, I don't have any history on them but William was married to Edith M (Clawson) Bryant and had 2nd son Glen Otis Cretis Bryant b 31 July 1897 first son died at birth. They had some of the most awful names I have ever heard given to their boys. 8 children, 1 girl died young in California. (Hit by a car) I will use the link you sent and see what I can find there, I wonder why the information you just sent on William Henry Brown was not on record with the Orphan Train Riders? That should have been on record with the Stanley's adopting him. Hemmmmmm. Again I want to thank you very much for helping me shut another door. Archibald Rich August 28, 1836 - Habersham Co. GA Tabitha Brown was born about 1819 in GA. She married Archibald Rich on August 28, 1836 in Habersham Co. GA. She and Archibald and their five children were listed on the 1850 census for Cass Co. GA with the following information: Tabitha was age 31, born GA and Archibald was age 48, born GA. These are their children and they were all born in GA: 1) Sarah Rich, age 12. This is all the information that we have found on Sarah. 2) James Rich, age 8. This is all the information that we have on him. 3) Lucinda Rich, age 7. She married Harrol H. Hight on September 25, 1859 in Bartow Co. GA. They had eleven children. They moved to ILL and then to MO. She died on June 12, 1922 in New Madrid Co. MO. 4) William Melton Rich, age 4. He married Mary Barilla Wofford on August 22, 1866 in Bartow Co. GA. They had eight children. Mary Barilla Wofford was the daughter of James Wofford and Altha McCracken. (my line) 5) Thomas Rich, age 1. This is all we know about him. We can find no further trace of Tabitha Brown Rich after the 1850 census for Cass Co. GA. Did she die between 1850 and the 1860 census? If so, there were several small minor children, who cared for them. Did she and Archibald have any more children? Does anyone know who the parents of Tabitha Brown are? Is she related to the William Brown who is listed in the 1850 census for Cass Co. GA? I hope someone knows something about the elusive Tabitha Brown. I will be glad to share any family information that I have. Charlotte G. Boykin

I have been trying to find his birth parents; my search so far has turned up nothing. (William's death certificate stated birth 1868) Thank You for any leads. Eleanor Prieskorn (Ellie)

Ray, You don't say whether you have a connection to this line, but I have interest in some other Joplin Browns, notably those that can trace their lines back to Jacob F. Brown in Fort Scott, Kansas. Jacob married Martha Anne Capps 4 apr 1879, and they had had six children: Jasper N John R. Ada Mae (my grandmother) Harrison Benjamin Thomas Jefferson Gus M. I have contacted the descendants of part of Harrison's family in Joplin, but I've lost the trail of a couple of the other lines. If you have a connection, I'd like to hear from you.
