I have traced my side of the Pearson family to Joseph Pearson b abt,1753. This date is achieved by working off the following records. Marriages Registers of Wigton St Mary's between the years 1781 and 1797 inclusive Marriage. 1783. Joseph PEARSON bachelor of this parish , 29 yrs & Margaret TURNER singlewoman of this parish , 23 yrs by banns, on 01-Jan 1783 in the presence of John STAMPER & John HEWSON Death. 1803.Nov 29, Jos Pearson, Wigton, weaver, householder, aged 50. There are a few possibilities near to Wigton, Cumberland around the 1753 date but which one ? That is if he was from that area in the first place. One possibility is a Joseph Pearson Christening: 08 JUL 1753 All Saints, Cockermouth, Cumberland, England - Father Richard. But one cannot be sure so for the present time I am stuck. Joseph Pearson and Mary Armstrong had 6 children all boys. Thomas 1783 - who died in their infancy John 1785 to 1871. married Mary Ord in 1818 Wigton. Joseph 1790 to abt 1856. married Susanna McMechan in 1823 Wigton. Twins. Thomas 1793 to 1847. Married Mary Brougham in 1813 Wigton. William 1793 - Died in Glasgow 1840. Robert 1802 - who died in their infancy. My wife Janice and I live near to Stockton on Tees on the north east coast of England . We are having the coldest December since records began. Heavy snow started the last week in November, and we had about 2-3 foot over a 8 day period. Then it took another 2 weeks to clear. But now it has started snowing again. freezing temp,s - down to - 8 deg c at night and 0 to -4 during the day. Some areas in Northumberland and Scotland have experienced -20 deg c. for a couple of nights. The time hear is just gone 10 pm.Sunday night. Thanks Dave.
