What your cousin mentioned is correct. My Grandfather (Mothers side)is a spitting image of Lord H. Brougham. I to heard from Grandma that Henry Brougham invented the Brougham Coach and defended Queen Caroline. I was also told by my Grandmother (Jean Pearl Adams) that my Great Grandfather emigrated from Canada in the early 1920's and practiced Law in Washington State (USA) and had one son, my Grandpa. My Great Grandfather was later killed as a result of a trial he was prosecuting against, a crooked contractor was gougeing the government. My Great Grandfather was walking out of his office and outside the front door the contractor was waiting and shot my Great Grandfather in cold blood, he claimed he was reaching for a gun but Grandpa was only pulling a lemon drop out of his vest pocket, the contractor was let off as "an act of self defence" it destroyed my Great Grandmother financially since they left the Brougham family ! behind. So apparently, the reason my Great Grandpa emigrated to the US and changed his name from Brougham to Adams was a result of some dirty arms/gun deal that he was involved in some years prior. During WWII, my Grandfather (Edward Croy Adams) served as a pilot and flew cargo planes in "The Hump" and during his service, my Grandmother got some letter/notice from the British government regarding the Brougham estate and if they intended to take posession of said estate. Grandma said they declined and sent the notice back to England, Grandpa was raised by a Step-Father who was a carpenter so he did that to support his new Family. My mother has a stack of old photos of Great Grandpa and his Irish Wife who had red hair wearing some incredible clothes and uniforms, I can't recall her name but apparently their marriage caused a stir, I don't have much on my Great Grandpa's full name since it's all second hand info from my mother who I rarely talk with. As for myself, I was born in Sacramento, CA (where Grandpa lived most of his life) and I served 26 years in the Army as an Infantryman/Sniper, went to 2 wars and did my duty, I have 2 daughters and only married one time and still married to the same beautiful Lady from Spain. In the past I see some people saying that no offspring of H. Brougham are out there, funny how many people have similar stories, just remember that DNA never lies. If you ever read H. Broughams' speaches, you can tell he was long-winded, my Wife is always saying how I just "blah, blah, blah...) lol. I can tell you that my Grandpa was a great person, he was sort of short and thin, he was well respected around the Sacramento Executive Airport where he did Aerial Photography and did part time work at the Sacramento Bee as a type setter. I divulge all this in hopes you're able to connect any loose ends, hope it finds you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
