    1. Re: [BROUGHAM] Proper Pronunciation of Brougham???
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jwg3 Surnames: Brougham, Broom, Broome, McBroom, Green Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.brougham/40.7.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: rickbrou92 (Richard Brougham) & everyone subscribed or reading, Your info on how to pronounce Brougham is very interesting to me. My mom was born a Broom & said her father b. 1864 said our name was originally Brougham. I can find no evidence of this, but a Y-DNA match with Broughams would be great evidence. Most Brooms & Broomes & McBrooms in the Broom DNA project at FTDNA.com match. No Brougham has ever tested their Y-DNA. I keep hoping one will test their DNA one day. The ideal place to test Y-DNA is FTDNA and the ideal starting test is Y-DNA37 (37 marker analysis). It can be upgraded later & their are sales on upgrading about twice a year. The shipping & handling charge is $5 within the USA & $7 outside the USA. If you want more info email me directly at [email protected] & I can be more helpful. Incidently, I am pleased to report we now know our Brooms are DF63. That is our deepest SNP (i.e. deepest clade -- y-haplogroup within the tree of all humans). I am very proud we know it this precisely. By contrast my Greens are Z11 Greens so I have incorporated that into my surname below. To keep from boring, I will stop here. Sincerely, James W.
