I started to giggle =97 I've always seen the name (which isn't often) as=20 Almon -- and thought this was a transcription error until I saw his=20 signature noted as Almond Brooks in the second deed you referenced. I've=20 just been transcribing a Civil War letter home from Harvey Brooks, who=20 signs his name Harvy. Wouldn't you think that, even with a limited=20 education, spelling your own name would be a given? Can Filbert, Brazil and= =20 Hazel be lurking nearby? We could rename the euphonius Cassius Clay Brooks= =20 to Cashew C. :-) Anyway ... Almon or Almond is an uncommon name. I've only seen it twice=20 before. One of those is an Almon Brooks, son of Aaron (parentage unkn., who= =20 was b. 1802 in VT) and Chloe Elva BANNISTER. Almon is probably born in MA,= =20 marries Emily SHIE at Huntsburg, Geauga, OH, and dies at Huntsburg in 1893.= =20 Isn't Geauga County adjacent to Cuyahoga? This is Marta Howell's line ...=20 are you listening, Marta? Cindy's Almond would descend from Henry Brooks, in the Woburn line. Marta's= =20 line is undetermined, but the given name Aaron is usually found in the line= =20 of Capt. Thomas Brooks. The BLISS name early on (pre-1675) is associated with Springfield, MA and=20 the adjacent Connecticut River valley towns. Since hundreds of thousands of= =20 New Englanders went west in this period, there would have been many people= =20 with this name around. Maybe Almond's wife had a favorite brother named=20 Leonard Bliss Plummer, or Leonard Bliss was best man at their wedding, or=20 ... who knows? Sorry I can't be of more help.
