I think you need to build yourself more of a foundation in order to be able to move forward. Have you visited the library and taken home a couple of "starter" genealogy books? If the census is the next place you plan to look for family information, then read up on it. I know you haven't, or you wouldn't be asking me this. :-) I think most genealogists are self-taught. I know I am. I'm sorry, but I can't be your "job coach" here. Too many chores and plans, too little time. Chris
Good Morning Listers -- I thought it might be helpful to recommend a site at Ancestry.com that will educate us to what each census schedule tells us: http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/news/articles/1264.asp While Ancestry requires subscription to view their data -- the library does not. There is a wealth of information including the dates that the censuses were taken, questions asked in each enumeration, significant facts about the census, and research tips to help you get the most from these valuable resources. I remember it wellllll - I looked at my first census, barely able to make out what was written and wondered, "What good is this?" I've since learned :-) Good day to you all -- Carol Pullen-Reynolds
