Bezaleel Brooks and his five sons moved to the area from New Haven Mills. The three eldest sons took over a triphammer shop on the site and formed the Brooks Brothers Co, later Brooks Edge Tool Co., which flourished for nearly half a century. For a short time in the 1850's they also made chairs, but the woodworking was less successful. They soon turned to axes as their specialty, and sold them nationwide. * * * * * *
