Many of the builders of the magnificant Natchez antebellum homes are buried here. Located on Cemetery Road, and overlooking the Mississippi River, the Natchez City Cemetery was established in 1822 and covers approximately 95 acres of land. The old burying ground was on a high hill where Memorial Park and St. Mary’s Cathedral are located in downtown Natchez. Samuel Brooks, the first Mayor of Natchez, from 1803-1811, is still buried there.
