I have previously uploaded both of them to the Tributaries web site, where Richard appears at the end of the founders table, but have just added the death records you dug out. There is such an existing scarcity of information on the Easthampton guys that every new fact has a correspondingly significant impact. > An account of Deaths in East-Hampton, since my coming > thither, which was in September, 1696, kept by Nathl. > Huntting. 13 Jun 1713 > Relative: son of: Jonathan Brooks > Age: abt. 10 months As for early Jonathans, I know of only two candidates. One is the Jonathan/2 of the Springfield line about whom we've talked before, b. 1674 at Springfield. Thomas Warren's "Springfield Families" reports that this Jonathan was "in Staten Island in 1725, see Deed D-520." Sheldon's History of Deerfield says, "of Long Island 1725." This ought to be the Jonathan mentioned at Easthampton. The other early Jonathan for whom I have evidence was still back in England, 25 Oct 1699, living with a son George, when his father John made his will in Jersey Province. Jonathan is named first twice in lists of children found in the will; as one of the three of John's six children who were living in England, independent of their father, he was probably the eldest. I know nothing further, such as whether he ever came to America. [Craig, New Jersey Colonial Documents, Calendar of Wills, 62, John Brooke] Thanks for the Easthampton snippets. If you run across any more, I'd be delighted to see them! :-) The NEHGS library catalog lists 14 works on Easthampton, including a history/genealogy and a "Families of," but I'm not a member at present.
