Jeanne, I don't know the context of the note, but I'm wondering if it's really "Beardsley". There's a wonderful Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, which is most likely named after the Beardsley family. I'm not sure if Rootsweb will accept a website link, but do a search for Beardsley Zoo and that will give you the site. They have 2 baby tigers, that were born in April.
