    3. I have a small snippet to add to the census extractions Jim Brooks has posted. The St. Johnsbury (VT) [SUP:]Caledonian-Record[:SUP], 18 Jul 1846, indexed by Janice Boyko at "Northeast Kingdom Genealogy," http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nekg3/files/stjcald.htm, contains the followed index item: Brooks, Zelotes, age 22, June 25, son of Eli Brooks of Barton, VT | Montpelier, VT | 7/18/1846 In other words, Zelotes (Biblical name) died at Montpelier in 1846, when his father Eli was in residence in Barton (just one or two towns away from Lyndon). I think what emerges is a clearer picture of two Elis. One, the Cheshire line guy from CT, was in Otsego County, NY by 1830, married to Sophronia. Debbie Allen's Eli, on the other hand, was in Vermont from 1830 on, in what they call up here the Northeast Kingdom, married to Naomi, and making appearances at Lyndon, Barton, and (as Debbie posted in 2005) St. Jay. I will do some rooting around in my Elis and see if I can find one who matches up by rough date and location, and who doesn't yet have a wife. Thanks for the lookups, Jim. Debbie, do you know anything of Naomi's place of origin? Chris
