Hi, I have just recently found information on my mother's great grandmother. Her name was Elizabeth Brooks from York Maine, born about 1817. Elizabeth's marriage record, her third, to Job Curtis of Woburn, indicates her parents were Nathaniel and Hannah Brooks of York, Maine. I have found a Nathaniel, of York, living with Hannah in the census; and, from the census (1850 - 1880) it looks like Nathaniel's children were, George, Nathaniel, and James. Elizabeth's first marriage was to Charles Moore about 1836, so I don't find her in the census with the family. Elizabeth's son, my mother's grandfather, was George B. Moore. I have found the marriage intention of Nathaniel Brooks and Hannah Moulton 01/02/1813 in York; NEHGR 1847-1994, Yr 1962 Vol. 116 pg. 294. My question: Is Nathaniel Brooks of York, son of Joseph Brooks of Kittery. In Stackpole's Old Kittery and Her Families pg 305, it indicates that Joseph had son's James and Nathaniel, with no other information on decendents. Does anyone know any information on Joseph's son Nathaniel born in Kittery, or who the parents of Nathaniel Brooks of York might be. It's a reach, but I am thinking the name George, Elizabeth's brother's and son's name may have been after George Fernald father of Abigail Fernald who married Joseph Brooks in Kittery. Nathaniel also named one of his son's James which might have been after his brother. Any information appreciated. I am willing to share any information I have, although it's not much at this point.
