Hi Joyce, There isn't another Nathaniel in the Kittery/York/Eliot area in this period, so Hannah Moulton's husband ought to be Joseph's son Nathaniel. He's the only instance I've seen of the name Nathaniel in the Kittery Brooks line. The "reach" you mention is good reasoning, imo. Kittery, York, and Eliot are all within about 10 miles of each other, and just across the state line from Portsmouth, NH. I *think* York is inland, but Kittery (which hada U.S. Navy shipyard in WWII) and Eliot (on the Piscataqua River, I believe) were both ports and shipbuilding towns. I think the Kittery shipyard is gone, but Portsmouth still has one. Anyway, you can think of these towns as a regional whole. The only source I have for Nathaniel is Stackpole. If you've seen the Kittery VRs published by Picton Press, it's amazing how few Brooks entries there are, considering how many Brooks families were in the area.
