Chris, I should have put in my post why this Archibald isn't likely to be the one I was looking for. The fact that he died in 1862 was actually in his "favor" because my great-grandfather married a Brooks widow in 1864. But this Archibald Brooks was born and lived in Saratoga County, NY whereas the Archibald Brooks I was looking for was in Lexington, Greene County, NY as were his parents and older siblings.
