Maracha Brooks wife of Noah Brooks died July 10th 1862 aged 80 years & 6 mo." ======================== Lesadds the following notes and comments of his own: In 1818 Noah was a Commissioner of Common Schools in Royalton (B3678). A Noah Brooks entered land in Western New York 11 Aug 1806. Sec. 3, Twp 11, Range 2. On March 20, 1818 an indenture was filed in Niagara Co. wherein Noah Brooks bought property from Phalarcus Russell. (The township is illegible, but seems to end in "..ition." Another entry was made on 29 Apr 1844, after his death, perhaps by his widow in his name. (B2740-42) 1810 Niagara Co census has Noah, Asa, Clark and Nathen Brooks in Genessee. 1820 Niagara co census has Justin Brooks near Noah; in Royalton 1830 census James Brooks mentioned in an 1869 letter, may be a cousin of Noah. Location possibly Trumbull Co. OH or Wisconsin. The Russell family which Noah married into is well documented in Russel, George Ely, "Descendents of William Russell" (Coshocton Press) and includes material he wrote for New England Historical and Genealogical Register. Maracha's parents are Stephen Russell 1748-1820 and Elinor Fowler b. 1752. They also had a son Roswell Russell 1772-c 1814 who married Elizabeth Carrier and united two lines from Salem Witchcraft victims. After Roswell's death Elizabeth married Abram Grant and had two children. One of these, Lucy [1817-1905] then married General Sullivan Jaquith [name, not title] settling in Dearborn Co., IN. Much of the material I have on these families started with a researcher cousin of my grandmother Elizabeth Russell Wilkerson who corresponded with my grandmother over the years, supplemented by my own research. Noah Brooks is one of my holdouts. I would dearly love to find his heritage or something about his family. I am also collecting all the descendents of Noah Brooks and Maracha Russell that I can and will be happy to correspond with any.
