I am trying to find a line of Brooks from Ohio that moved to Arkansas. Alexander Brooks is shown on the 1880 census as being 43 born in Ohio. I've also seen where he lived in Olney, Illinois before that. Any help would be appreciated Lisa lgc1997@cablelynx.com

I'm sorry, but I don't have an Alexander. That is a very unusual name for the New Jersey line. Lisa - Have you done your basic census work? ... at least for the years 1850-1870? You can go to http://www.ancestry.com/ and even without being a member you can get an idea about where your Alexander might have been previously. They won't let you look at the actual record unless you subscribe to their service(s) but you can take the basic information to you local genealogical library and order the census film for the location(s) you find. This works best with unusual names. Someone said earlier that Alexander coupled with Brooks was unusual in the NJ line(s), so I thought this might help you. For instance the only Alexander Brooks in IL in 1870 is in Richland Co., perhaps if you are lucky in 1850 you'll find him still living with his parents or at least in the same general location. There are two Alexander Brooks listed in Ohio in 1850 in the approximate age bracket you would be looking for. Happy hunting.
