Good morning, I'm passing along this post from the NORTHEAST-ROOTS list. Note the third paragraph and the War of 1812 veterans claims from New York state -- a valuable resource for a difficult period. I've always found the U.S. GenWeb sites (organized by state and county) to be the best way of finding information "on the ground" in an area I'm researching. U.S. GenNet seems to be a similar effort, and I've bookmarked their home page myself. One only hopes that the two organizations aren't duplicating each other.
