The SW part of Mi was mostly Kalamazoo County before 1850's. Hosea Brooks was found in NY 1830 census; Northville, Fulton Co., NY; he was also in the 1840 and 1850 census in Northampton, Fulton Co., NY and died in that location. He married C. Torry ..she also died in Northampton, Fulton Co., NY Children of above all born in NY Martin Samuel Brooks....b 1/9/1825 Rosanna Brooks.....b 1834 Benjamin Brooks....b 1836 he moved to Marengo TWP, Calhoun Co., MI. 1870 census Levi A Brooks...b 1838 Aphice Brooks...b 1842 William H Brooks....b 1844, served in 111th Inf Co F as a LT. died in Sand Lake, MI Charles Brooks....b 1846 Emily E Brooks....b 1850 http://envoy.libofmich.lib.mi.us/1870 Note Eau Claire may be just Clare, Clare CO., MI ; Eau Claire is in WI. There are many more Brooks of that era in the lower counties of MI. I have one loose child who is presently w/o a parent... found in the cem lists..John Brooks b 1885 d 1890 buried in Oaklawn Cem. Marshall, MI. so far I have not tied him to one of my Brooks (direct line in Calhoun Co., MI).Or to any other Brooks I have presently.
