In Oneida Co., NY there is a small area known as Steuben. Not a city or villiage but a land grant. see map at www.rootsweb.com/~nyoneida/maps/1829.htm I am looking for parents of two brothers who were born there abt 1806. Isaac and Albert Brooks Albert had two sons b at this location Albert 1835 and Henry Brooks 1838 Isaac had two sons b at this location Benjamin 1836 and Charles Livingston b 1834 all moved to Calhoun Co., MI before 1850 ..found in 1850 census and 1870 census Thanks Bryce

That's the earliest Albert I've seen. The name becomes popular for a generation or two with Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria. Chris
