Stellie, Some from my notes on Broadwater: >From Bob Munkres: "Broadwater was my home town. My copy of Nebraska Place Names is at home, but as I recall, the town was named after a Gen. Broadwater. The town was founded in abt 1912 when the railroad was extended up the North Platte Valley. There was a hotel, reputedly very elegant, in Billings, MT. There was an article about the hotel in MT in The Magazine of Western History some years ago. There is also a Broadwater County in MT much of which is located to the east & south of Helena." "As a matter of fact, I'm sitting about 2 blocks from a major street here in Billings named Broadwater. I've not been here long enough yet to know about a hotel, but can check it out." *note: I do not have an address for Mr Munkres. - -------------------------- Data from "Pioneer Families of Missouri" pg 307 Broadwater, Charles L, an Englishman, came to America a short time before start of the Rev War. I live on land he originally owned and went to a grade school named after him. I'll admit that although I'm interested in him, I'm of no relation, just intrigued by the man and would like to know what happened to his descendants. >>
