Hi Anna. I've spent years looking for who this Charles' parents were. So far I haven't found them. No clue either as to his wife Nancy's maiden name. I'm descended from his son John (2/28/1788 - 8/12/1859) who moved to Russell (later Scott) Co., VA around 1810 and married Winnie KILGORE (4/10/1796 - 4/23/1873), dau. of Robert (Robin) KILGORE and Jean PORTER. Charles & Nancy BROADWATER's children that I know of are Martha, John, Mary (Polly), William, and Peggy. Charles BROADWATER's land in Botetourt (now Roanoke) Co., VA, was bounded on one part by the property of Samuel HARSHBARGER who built a stone house in 1797 which still stands and is occupied today. A brick addition was made to the house in the early 1800s. I've often wondered whether the Broadwaters may have helped Samuel build his house, but ol' Samuel HARSHBARGER was a Dunkard (German Baptist) and may have had all the help he needed from his brothers in the faith. Anyway, that house is just a couple miles from where I live, and I drive past it frequently. It's a great-looking old place. Back to the main topic: I too would appreciate hearing anything more on who this Charles BROADWATER was and where he came from, or who his wife Nancy was. Was he a son of Guy BROADWATER of Loudoun Co., VA? Or did he come from the Accomack Co., VA BROADWATERs? Thanks.
