Deposition of Abraham Lay, age 71, that about Jun 1715 he came to this county as a cabin boy in the ship "Robert & John", Charles Broadwater, Commander. Ship to get a load of tobacco from Messrs Rozer & Adison. Sometime in Dec following Merrs John West, present plaintiff's father, d between which time & latter end of May 1716 Capt Charles Broadwater intermarried with Major West's widow, the plaintiff's mother. In July Capt Broadwater left with his ship for London & his deponent with him. He returned May 1717 with Capt Broadwater in the same ship & a William Mudge, Commander & he as apprentice to Caulkers business. He resided with Capt Broadwater until his death between 1730-35. Question lies about property line between land of Mr Woodbridge, now Mrs Yerby's, ;& that he believes that about 10-15 feet has washed away & 14-15 years ago he used the landing as a fishing place. ===============
