Booklet "A Sketch of the Broadwater Family and Its Connections" written by Amos Broadwater 1891 is housed with the Genealogical Society of Allegany Co, MD. *note: I posted the individuals in a 3 Post series, but neglected dates, in data to follow. Where dates are missing they were not in the booklet. Cornelious Broadwater m Mary Piper & they emigrated from England to America. Mary d 1829 bur near Barton, Allegany Co, MD. Most of their ch emigrated from Loudoun Co, VA to Allegany Co, MD. They had 8 ch: 1] Sallie m Murel Holden & res VA. Only said they had a large family. *2] Charles m Mary M Beavers, d/o Jacob Beavers. Amos Broadwater (1802-1901) & wife Sarah were 1826 settlers of New Germany area of Allegany Co, MD. "Amos signed his brief Broadwater history with the place name: Brant's Fancy, Jan. 1, 1891." William C Broadwater (1811-1907), bro of Amos, m Jane Warnick (1814-1886) of New Germany. He was known as "King Billie". "The lived on his father's farm (Charles Broadwater) on the Savage River for a time. They later bought and moved to 'the Meshec Schultz farm of 300 acres just south of Grantsville'. This was part of the old Cornucopia tract on which old Grantsville was established in the late 1700s." "In later years, William's son Gilead and his grandson, J.U. Stanton, divided the farm. William lived with his son Gilead and the farm passed to Gilead's son, Nevin, until the 1970's Nevin's son and grandson, David and Ronald Broadwater, operated the original farm." Louisa, d/o Wm C, m Thomas Jefferson Stanton. Her sis Harriet m Eli Stanton. Emigrant ancestors: Cornelius & Mary (Piper) Broadwater settled at Loudoun Co, Va. "They and their 8 children all moved to Allegany Co, MD between 1807 and 1811, settling mostly in the Savage River area." "Of the Broadwaters Jacob Brown wrote, 'The Broadwater race have become so numerous in the course of four generations that it would be impossible here to go into particulars beyond these now given, but it can be said in truth & proproety, that as a race they have been and are honest, industious, thrifty and law abiding."
