Since your name was Sebastian, I assume you are a descendant of Amelia Broadwater and Benjamin Sebastian, Jr. I am also through their son William Sebastian who married Louisa Strother. What do you know about the origins of the Sebastian family? I have seen reference that they were of Spanish origin, do you know anything about that? Thanks for any help, Dwayne Holman, Austin, TX
>From records I have, the only Broadwaters in South Carolina in 1790 and both in Edgefield Co., SC were Charles and Scarborough. I am trying to find out if these two Broadwaters were the sons of Elias Broadwater of Accomack Co. VA. Thanks for the reminder, Dan. I am reposting my search. Searching for ancestors of: BROADWATER, Charles M. born 10/10/1827 in SC; resided in Edgefield, SC as of the 1850 census. He was living with a Gilchrist family. He moved to Russell County, AL and married Bunetta Gray, whose father, Noah, was also from SC. I have been searching for the family of Charles for several years now. Anyone with information or resources, please contact me. Thanks Nancy Broadwater Walsh in St Louis, but originally from Birmingham AL
This list has 23 members, the list is open for conversation to break the ice. Its hard to do research if no one leaves any messages , please feel free to visit as you wish , it should help to get things going , also tell others you may know about your conversation place here . Dan listowner
Anyone descended from Charles Broadwater of Fairfax Co., VA might be interested in an item in the book "Falls Church by Fence and Fireside" by Melvin Lee Steadman that discusses George Washington's efforts to get someone to run against Broadwater in the 1774 election for the VA General Assembly. Broadwater won anyway. As for Washington's ability as a judge of men, remember that he thought Benedict Arnold was a fine fellow until Arnold was caught spying for the British. Dwayne Holman
Broadwater researchers, check out these sites http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/marriages/marbs.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mdgarret/cemeteries/cem.html
